I recently purchased a Bushnell Elite 4200 1.25-4x24mm scope with the fast focus eyepiece. I had the scope mounted by a gunsmith on my Browning blr in .308win. The problem is that the scope will not focus properly above 2.5 magnification. I can get the image to focus and the crosshairs to focus but not both of them at the same time. Any suggestions?

That fast focus eyepiece is there only to adjust your eye once on the reticle.
For this, you must look at a blank featureless part of the sky and adjust the eyepiece to give you a very sharp image of the reticle.
The distance of perfect focus and zero parallax is 100 meters for that scope. At that distance, the image is supposed to be in focus at the same plane as the reticle. If not, I fear you may need to send it back for an overhaul and collimation job.

You're probably looking at something that's waaaay too close. Has to be 100 yards out aprx for both crosshairs and image to be in focus.
