Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50mm Mil-dot: About to buy another... or?

I have the 4200 mildot version and it is serving me well. I have no complaints, and for the money its decent. But, I haven't owned a Nightforce or Schmidt and Bender to compare it to. My version might have a more limited MoA range than the latest Elite. Check the specs to make sure it will do what you want in that regard. I had to adjust my scope using Burris inserts to get enough elevation to be theoretically able to adjust for drop out to 1000 yards with a 223.

I just bought another one, but the illuminated reticle model with the BTR-MIL reticle. I've been happy with them, the glass is VERY good - about the same as the old Elite 6500 glass was. Has the right features for a scope in this range and price point. turret parallax adjustment, first focal plane mil-dot reticle, 0.25 MOA click adjustment, target turrets and one-piece 30mm tube. The illuminated model is essentially the same as the non-illuminated model (which I assume is the one you are looking at since the illumination feature adds about $100 and they are usually found in the $800-900 range with illumination and $700-800 without).

As stated, depending on the ranges you are shooting at and the drop of the calibre, you might need a base or rings with some degree of MOA compensation if there is not enough adjustment in the elevation turret. I believe it comes with 70MOA of stock vertical adjustment.

As an aside, I have a very similar non-illuminated Leupold that cost a fair bit more than the Bushnell and frankly I can't notice any difference in actual use, though the Leupold warranty is arguably a bit better.

they are decent for the $ as far as clarity goes but IMO the retical it WAY to thick, and other then the one that sits on my .22 (it got demoted down) i will never even consider buying another for any rifle i own

@ ultimate monkey: Which reticle do you have? The BTR reticle, for example, has a .25 MOA dot surrounded by about a 2 MOA fine circle before the hash-marks start along the crosshairs. It's really quite fine - much more so than standard mil-dot.

Well you gave a point. The std mildot reticle cross hard may be too thick for some shooter at high magnification. I much prefer the other two reticle offerings available for this scope.

Thanks for the feedback. I personally really like their mil-dot reticle, but I suppose it's all a matter of preference. Overall, I am leaning towards another.
