Bushnell Elite Tactical HDMR VS Vortex Razor HD scopes

How many sightrons are you seeing in competition these days Jerry?

coming back from the Worlds and US Nationals, I saw a lot of Sightrons sitting on F class rifles. Some shooters have travelled around the world spending silly amounts of time and money to come. That fact they choose Sightron is pretty telling don't you think

Just have a look at pics of the Raton matches and you will see Sightron scopes a plenty.

the ffp scopes are brand new with many sources backordered. Shooters just aren't able to get their hands on them. Not had any complaints on those that have purchased from me. I expect we will see a growing number in tactical matches once the scope production catches up with demand.

Why would you say it's easier for Joe Blow to use mildot?

I'm genuinely interested, because I can't see how it would get much easier than MOA.

Please don't use military as an example. Joe blow doesn't need to hear their standards.

Maybe make a separate post. We don't need to fill this one up with off-topic material.

(Unless the OP wants to sell me his razor for ultra cheap because this is a forum of Vortex haters =) )

Not mildot; milliradian reticle/milliradian clicks.

I've had both and now a sightron 6-24ffp in mil/mil.
The Horus reticle I like on my semi auto 308's as it's quick to see your splash and compensate precisely.
Illumination on the razor for lower light is nice, glass is better than the bushy.
But the sightron has the nicest reticle for a bolt gun, and the nicest glass.
Mil/mil scopes, especially ffp, are much easier for my metric trained mind. Everything is linear.
I like the sightron the most.

I run a Bushy with the G2DMR reticle and personally I love my scope. having looked through all scopes mentioned from the local dealers I would give the clarity to sightron or nightforce. between the razor and my bushy, I couldn't see any hard evidence why to spend more money. Ive used the bushy out past 1000yds and can not say I'm disappointed. I can read the wind off the grass, see my splashes very clearly, tracking is excellent so far and my scope has taken a few bangs. only draw back is there is no zero stop or illuminated reticle BUT that 34mm tube did let in a lot of light during the late hours of the evening and looking in to shadows. and having matching turrets to reticle is great.
my 2 cents.

Sticking on topic with the OP's question.... I'd ditch the Bushnell. Personally I haven't had much luck with the Bushnells. Their QC just sucks now. I do have a few Vortex scopes now and find them fantastic for the price and are comparable to other more "big brand name " scopes as well. (I run NF and Leupold as well).

Are there better scopes than Vortex for the same $$$? Sure.. but there are a lot worse scopes out there as well, including some that retail for more $$$. If I had to choose between bushy and vortex (and I have already) I'd keep the Vortex hands down. That's my opinion based on my own personal experiences... YMMV.

I haven't had either scope, so take my opinion for what is.
As far as mill vs. MOA goes... who cares. Both are angular units of measurement and you will be able to get used to either. If your more into the tactical side of stuff then mills will probably be the best for you, but if you think in inches MOA is going to be easier to learn. I use MOA because most products and people in my area use it. The big thing for me is to have my range finder match my reticule and turrets (meter-mill, or yards moa).
If your thinking of hunting I think that the Bushnell would be the way to go, simply because of the magnification range. I really like the horus reticule too, but I have heard some negatives about the glass on the bushnells.
Vortex is amazing for customer service and glass quality (on the razors, pst not so much). They are probably a little better made as well.

I look to function before glass quality, so the bushnell would win for me.

I currently have 2 vortex viper tactical scopes and really like them both. I only have experience with the bushnell 4200 tactical 6-24x50, but I would go with the vortex, its warranty cant be beat should u ever have an issue

In my opinion the G2DMR reticle is hard to beat. Every sniper I've shown it to thinks its brilliant. By far the most accurate milling reticle on the the market today
