Well I was pondering the idea of buying an EOTech for my DPMS Oracle, when I came across a mint, in box Bushnell Holosight on the Epps site for 100 bucks. I snapped it up, as this seems like a good price. Anyone else run one of these on their AR or other rifle? Was it worth the 100 bucks?

Are we talking Gen 1 holosight (odd long lookin thing) or the Gen 2+?

Either case - $100 is a great deal. They are a great option for cheap! The biggest (and only) gripe on these is the 'N' batteries. Pricey and not that long lasting!

The gen2+ holosights have the EXACT same electronics as the 511 series, just no metal hood. For a range gun - it is a functional equivalent to an EOTech.

Thanks for your input. I actually don't know which gen it is, just that it was like new in box. I was hoping it would be an affordable yet quality substitute for an eotech, since I could justify the cost of one of those on a 750$ AR that only sees range use. When I get it, I'll post pics.

Here's a gen 1 (not officially, but that's what I call them) on the bottom 10/22. They have interchangeable reticles, if you can find them, that go from dot, ring/dot, tombstone, project dot with line, triangle, square, diamond, whatever. Most of those are long gone and people who have them don't sell them . :)

2nd gen+ just looks like a normal EOTech, but without the metal hood.

Like i said - both are a good deal for $100!!!

I have had both versions of the holosites. $100 is a good value IMO. As far as 'N' cells 'The Source' used to carry them in their brand (powercell??) and they were very affordable.

I have a holosight on one of my ar's. Its all good. Its discontinued product so expect no warranty service id you put in a 3volt instead of a 1.5 volt battery

Awesome, sounds like I did okay for 100 bucks. Are these things able to handle a bit of recoil? Perhaps it may find a home on my .308 Winchester Model 100 during deer season.

I've run a Holosight on my Norc AR for the past 3000 odd rounds. Looking through it looks exactly the same as my Eotech 512, just without the metal hood. It likes to drain the batteries even when it's turned off. Batteries out, no problems. It's held zero on that rifle this whole time.
