Bushnell Legend 5x15x40 Any good?

Saw one of these on sale for a good price, looking for a budget scope with some decent magnification.

Any ideas?

I have one on my Rem 700 SPS 204, & one on my Marlin 917V 17, & I realy like these scopes. Yah, I have been told it is too much scope for the 17, but I like to see the wiskers on the gopher before I turn him into jam.

Seriously the Ledgend 5-15-40 is a very clear clean scope. It is fog proof, & water proof, & the eye piece is easy to focus. If there were only one scope I could pick for all my rifles, it would be the Ledgend 5-15-40.

Good scope, had one myself a few years back. Clear, bright optics and the reticle tracked well for elevation adjustments.

Another option in that price range that compares favourably is the Vortex Crossfire 4-16X50AO 30 mm Illuminated Mil Dot scope, usually about $250.

5-15x mil dot Bushnell Legend is on my .270 WSM and it works GREAT !! No problems and the mil dots work very well.

A little late I'm guessing buy I have one on my Savage .17HMR...It's terrific, very bright and I love the mil-dots. excellent gopher scope

Have one on a 300wsm and works great. Light transmission is pretty good for low light shooting in the last few minutes of the hunt. I would get another.

i dont own a 5x15x40, but i have a 2-7x32mm Legend that is my absolute favorite beater scope.
its held up on both a Mini-14 and an M-305 which is a pretty good testament to its durability seeing as these rifles are known as scope killers. im pleasantly suprised that it held up this well, nice to know it wasnt money thrown away on a 'cheap' scope.

IMO the Legend series represents a pretty good value. its also the cheapest id go when buying a scope.

I know this thread is a month old but here is my 2c

I have one in 5x15x40. I put it on my 22-250. This gun shoots well and I always expect my groups to be an inch or under at 100 yards. I put this scope on, got it on paper first 3 shots, a 3/4" group. Then dialed it over to be a few inches high at 100. At that point I got 3" groups. I had to adjust the dials back and forth a bit to get it to "settle in" then was rewarded with more 3/4" groups.

I don't trust it. I would never buy another. I have had this happen with other low end Bushnell's, Banners and Trophies. No more for me thanx..
