My experience with optics is very limited but I'm thinking of getting one of those for all around general purpose usage for my CZ 557 Ranger.
The 3-12×44 looks like it could fit this role nicely.

I like that it comes with the protective caps and it has somewhat of a throw lever right out of the box.
The Nitro seems to be reasonably priced and I kind of like the Multi X recticle...
I don't much care for the other recticle option with the holdover/hashmarks, as I'm planning to set this up for the maximum point blank range of the 308 with about 6 inch target size in mind (should be around 200 yards or so).
That is plenty far for any of my needs, but it would be nice to see the bullet holes in a paper target at 100 yards at least, without having to use the spotting scope.

Could anyone tell me if this particular Bushnell scope would be a good choice?

Its a decent scope for the $. If you're influenced by the included flip-up lens caps, stop now. They are utter garbage.

Yeah, it'll be a good scope. The Nitros are pretty decent. 44mm objective should let in plenty of light and you'll see .308-caliber bullet holes at 100m on 12x no problem. I'd put them on a hunting rifle in a heartbeat.

I have an Athlon 2-12x42mm which I would rate slightly lower than the Nitro and I can make out .257-cal. bullet holes at 100m pretty easily.

Thank you...could you elaborate a bit more on this?
Are all flip caps garbage, or is it just the ones on this particular scope?
Do they come loose, do they brake, obstruct vision etc..?
