looking to buy a scope and local shop has a bushnell trophy and a simmons 8 point both sparked my interest for my 3006 but was wondering what people think of these scope and which one would better fit my 3006.

Bushnell makes many different models in various price ranges. In the higher price ranges (i.e. 6500 models) I personally would rather have a Leupold. In the lower price ranges I've always found that Bushnells seem to be better both optically and mechanically than comparably priced Tascos and Simmons.

I agree. The only real total scope failure I have had was a Simmons. I have had lots of Bushnell and they are indeed better instruments.

Simmons and Tasco are now ownwed and manufactured under the Bushnell family of outdoor optics. More often than not these brands and marketed to a lower price point and performance level than Bushnell branded optics however there is some overlap in performance and price in a few models. Phil.

I agree that the Bushnell 3200 is the starting point of decent level scopes (in that brand). I've owned Simmons binoculars and have had them fall apart. One set of simmons binoculars must have had "astigmatism" (lol) as it lost it's capacity to bring the images in the lenses together at one level. I won't be buying those anytime soon.

However, bushnell stuff is alright, and only once did I buy a real inexpensive 4X scope and it couldn't hold zero.

Hi,
Are you looking at the discontinued "Trophy" or the new "Trophy XLT"? The XLT has BC flip-up caps and replaces the Trophy & Legend series. The Bushnell over the Simmons either way. I like my 3200's better than my Leupold VXI & VXII's.
