should be able to find a great scope for around 100 dollars at any walmart, can tire or sporting goods store. since it wont take any heavy recoil, all you need to find is a model in a power suited to your use, with clear optics and acceptable adjustments.

Try to get a scope with an Adjustable Objective so you can focus and adjust parallax from 10 meters up to infinity. If AO is not available, get a scope designed for a .22 LR rifle so that factory parallax is corrected from 50 meters onward.
Got a Bushnell 3X9 32mm scope; had it for a few years now; it's done very well on my 10/22 and Savage MkII. I'd buy one again if I needed another rimfire scope.
I have the same one. It's called Bushnell Rimfire 3-9x32. Pretty good scope for 50 bucks but the rings that come with it aren't good.
x3 The Bushnell 3-9 is a perfectly adequate rimfire scope for distances up to 50 yards or so. Beyond that you may need more magnification, depending on what you're shooting at. They cost around $50.
It comes with dovetail rings for a grooved receiver. If you want to mount it on Weaver-type mounts you'll need different rings. In that case, one good option is B-Square Sport Utility mediums - around $25 for a set.

Unless your eyes are really good, with a 9x scope you will probably not be able to bullet holes in a target much beyond 50 yds. If you're shooting at milk jugs or some kind of reactive target the useful range of the scope will be longer. 200 yards is an extremely ambitious range for a .22.
I use mine out to 100 yards. I don't believe its the best scope for that purpose but it works for me. Of course, I don't usually shoot paper targets at 100 yards, just gongs and metal targets mostly. Its so windy around here (St. John's) most of the time that trying to get good groups at 100 yards with a .22 is just not practical.
I've got a bushnell Banner 40 mm 4-12 x with adjustable ao. I've been really happy with it. I think it was just over 100. Really clear and lets me see the 22 holes pretty far out. I have a friend with a giant tasco, 6 -24x or something like that and mine is so much clearer that I can see as much or more than he can, even with less magnification.
We crank gophers regularly here in AB with .22's out to 150 yards and occasionally a little farther with straight 4X Bushnells . So I don't see any problems needing a huge varmint scope or AO for that matter.Beats the hell out of open sights with my eyes...............Harold *** Weaver .22 rings run under $25 new and I scooped a used set from Flea Bay for $8

Up to 100 yards, a Bushnell Rimfire scope is perfect. Some people prefer fixed 4X power while some go for Variable 3-9X or 4-12X or higher for better precision.
For me, fixed 4X is better for offhand shooting, while the higher magnifications work better for benched. That's because the slightest movement is magnified much more with the higher powers.
My problem with cheaper rimfire AO scopes is their Point of Impact changes when I adjust the objective focus from 25 meters to say, 100 meters.
Another problem with long range 22 shooting is running out of elevation adjustment.
I tried shooting a 200 meter gong with a Marlin 981T and Bushnell 3-9 x 32 AO. I can see the gong well but the scope ran out of elevation adjustment!
Looked like bullet drop was more than 3 ft.
Ammo was Winchester Xpert high velocity (1280 fps). Perhaps Stingers or faster ammo will help.
