Bushnell scope adjustment

I would appreciate anyones opinion on the following:

I bought a Ruger 10/22 and put a Bushnell Elite 3200, 3-9X40 on the gun. I used Weaver rings.

Not having access to a bore sight, I went to the range to sight the gun in. At 50 yds. I had to adjust the scope up 70 clicks and the horizontal 36 clicks left to get the gun sighted in. I realize that is only 35 vertical clicks and 18 horizontal clicks at 100 yds., but is that excessive?

The gun holds zero now and it appears all is well. I only put 10-15 rounds through the gun after I had it sighted in.

Should I have concern to the amount of adjustment I had to do to get the scope centered?

Don't know if you bought the scope new, but did you center it before you mounted? And are you sure the base/receiver/barrel are mounted and torqued correctly?

I bought the scope new at Gander Mountain in NY state. I did install the scope/rings as per Weaver and Bushnell instructions. I have done this type of operation, scope installation, 3 times before. I had my friend, who works on all types of guns, look at my installation and he found no problems.

Just did not know if having to adjust the scope that much (albeit without boresighting) was normal.
