Hi, i just bought a .270 WSM on friday and was wondering if the bushnell sportsman 3-9x40 scope would be able to hold up to the recoil? I did have a leupold VX ll that i was going to get, but due to some unforseen expenses i won't be able to get it until probably the end of june. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

P.S. I know that's a crappy scope but that's all i have for now.

if you already have the scope, and dont have to go buy it, then by all means, slap it on your new rifle until you can afford the Leupold :D

The elite 3200 is a very good scope for the money.Just as bright and clear as a VXII but lower priced,if your budget is smaller. On the other hand,I wouldn't trust the sportsman on a hunt.

Bushnell Elite 3200...

hunting seasons dont open until August or September

keep saving for the VXII IMO

Or you can spend about 1/2 that and get a Busnell Elite 3200 3-9x40mm... ;)

[Yeah, Tod I have three VXII's in 3-9x40mm but the Bushnells are a tad brighter... :p ]

stubblejumper, i would only be using the sportsman for a little practice before i got the leupold. I agree, i wouldn't use it for hunting. And NAA, i found a brand new leupold VX ll on ebay for under 400 dollars shipped, so it wouldn't cost that much more than the 3200's.

You can buy a new elite 3200 3x9x40 for $250 which is far less than $400.On e-bay you could probably buy an elite 3200 for even less.
It is only my personal practise, and many people will disagree, but I go one of two ways with scopes. If it is for a practise gun of mine or if someone has a small budget,I go with the elite 3200 due to the fact that they are low priced and very dependable with optics comparable to a vxII.
If the scope is going on one of my custom hunting rifles,I go for a top line 1" scope made by ziess or swarovski as they offer the best lenses and coatings in a 1" scope.

Elite 3200s are pretty good scopes for the $, I'll admit

eye relief isnt that great though, which could be something to think about when mounted on a 270WSM (especially a lighter one, like a T3).

I'd rather take back some beer cans and save an extra few weeks for the Leupold VXII ;)
