Bushnell spotting scope thoughts

I want to be able to see .223 hits on paper at 1-500 meters, has anyone used this? are they clear enough zoomed up to see the hits at 500? I am referring to the 20-60x65 model.

I have yet to see a decent Bushnell spotting scope. I have no problem with Bushnell stuff, but their spotting scopes, in my opinion, could be better.

I actually have the opposite opinion when it comes to Bushnell spotting scopes. I find that for the price most models are an excellent buy especialy the Elite series. I find some of the lesser models to be OK but feel you have to get into the Elite series to get the resolution to see bullet holes at any distance. Our best selling spotter in the store is 78-1548P, Elite 15-45x60. This is a roof prism model(straight through with no offset to the eyepeice and body). It is currently at $409 (although the price is going up about 25% to $508 when we are sold out and the new shipment comes in). This model is slim and compact and easy to take into the field and that is why it is a favourite with hunters as most other scopes are either too large or bulky to transport any distance on foot. The resolution of the Elite models is in my opinion better than the Leupold Sequoia's. There are cetainly better spotters out there like Swarovski, Leica and Zeiss & gold ring Leupolds but at a much higher price. Phil.

I agree and have the same scope marked Bausch and Lomb that I bought a year ago at a good discount from a local bird watching store. The only quibble I have is the eye relief but for less than half the price of the Leupold Gold Ring I can lift up my glasses to look through.

There's even a 80mm one. They are direct re-creations of the Baush&Lomb Elite series with Rainguard treatment added.
Top notch glass and best quality/price ratio.

I don't think you would get the resolution to see .22 cal holes much beyond 100 yds. Spacemasters are decent but I don't think will work well enough for your intended purpose. Phil.
 
When I was a bit younger and shooting service rifle, I used to find that I could see the 5.56 holes out to 200m with the spacemeaster (both the army issue 20x and my own 15-45). After 200, it was no longer possible for me and 100 was more doable, particularly if the target didn't have alot of contrast, the weather was bad or visibility was otherwise diminished. Of note, I actually don't like the 15-45 spacemaster I have as the eye relief is rather short for checking shot placement shot to shot.
