I figured I should put this in the precision section opposed to the optics section as it is more precision related.

Anyone have/used one of these?

I am in the market for a new scope and have the opportunity to pick one of these up. I have read a bunch on them from the US sites and overall impressions seem to be quite positive so I was just wondering if anyone in Canada has any real world time behind one of these and what their impressions are.

Thanks in advance,
Ivo

Unless, things have dramatically changed, just a variant of the 6500 family and their optics were not impressive.

Never had issues with tracking but the glass just didn't work for me. BUT could be all new?????

Let me know...

Jerry,
Apparently the new line of tacticals from Bushnell have completely different glass in them(actiually the scopes are completely redesigned...34mm tube, zero stop, FFP, etc.). I have read a few first hand reviews that the glass in them is better than Nightforce and equal to USO. I take the internet opinions with a grain of salt but the general consensus seems to be very happy among owners. They also have an MSRP $2149.99 US.

For that type of money, they better be superb.

For the mid $2000's, there is a whole lot of good stuff to choose from.

Why not just go a bit more and get a MARCH? Or S&B?

By the way, was not impressed with USO nor NF NXS either.

IF not in a huge hurry, Sightron will eventually have a FFP product and if the glass is similar to what their SFP scopes are like, better then NXS and 1/2 the price (no pricing on the FFP, just a guess).

I just bought the 3.5-21-50 G2DMR. For 1500.00 it's just as good if not better than my NF NXS. I put it next to my S&B as well, it's not as crisp or as bright, but it's half the price. The new tactical line from Bushnell is all new glass. Lots of guys using them south of the border, with the new reticle.

I have spent some time behind the 4.5-30 and for the coin, buy a march, I did and I love it, I also own a G2HDMR and it might be going, after owning the march the only other optic that even compares is Schmidt and yes I have spend a lot of time behind a 5-25 P4L FFP Schmidt so I think I am able to make that statement with great confidence, I have the march-f 3-24 in the fml-1 reticle just for arguments sake

I have a Premier Reticles 5-25 and a S&B showing up tomorrow to replace my USO and there is nothing I would like to get more than another Premier but the finances don't like that price range right now. I didn't mention that I can get the Bushnell for a little over 1/2 of the US MSRP so about 1/2 of a S&B or Premier. I have no first hand experience with March and while the magnification ranges really appeal to me, for some reason it scares me to spend that kind of money on a "relatively" new company with a less than stellar warranty. While S&Bs warranty sucks even more than March, they have a long and proven track record in the field.

I guess I'm just looking to get something decent for my new build without spending $3000+

You know this isn't the same as the 6500 4.5-30. When did you get to spend time with the XRS?was it a trade show?are they even in country yet?

Can you hook a fellow CGN'r up with that Bushnell deal?

I was asking about XRS. I have a Gen1 DMR as well. I wasn't sure if the Gen2 XRS 4.5-30 was actually in Canada at this time, I see PandD do list them so I guess the answer is yes.

I could be mistaken, but I believe there are a few of these bushnell optics at Milarm in Edmonton. I didn't pay to much attention to all the details due to the 2200 dollar price tags but the glass was amazing

I understand that there was some confusion around the Gen 1 and Gen 2 versions of this scope. I think I will go for it.

Thanks guys for all the input.

I was down in Montana for a couple of days in April for a shoot, banging at steel out to a mile. I spent some time behind many different scopes, including a couple of S&B PMII 5-25x, March 2.5-25 hunting turrets, Bushnell 3.5-21 ERS, Bushnell 4-30x XRS, Bushnell HDMR, Vortex Razor HD 5-20x, SWFA SS of various mag's, etc. I compared many of these scopes side by side. I was extremely impressed with the 3.5-21 ERS, and slightly underwhelmed by that particular model of March. The XRS had great glass, but above about 24x the image darkened somewhat more than I would like. The ERS was 98% of the S&B, but for half the price. Between the Razor and the ERS, it was VERY hard to pick a winner. The SWFA SS's were great, but I couldn't warm up to them as much as the others, although admittedly I didn't get a chance to play with the 5-20x HD version. The ERS and XRS both had noticeably better glass than the HDMR. The HDMR was similar to a Nightforce NXS, but the other two were above and beyond. The S&B would be my pick of the litter, if I could take one scope home with me for free, but based on the price I think I'd buy the Razor or ERS before any of the others, since they offer 98% of the optical performance and features that the more expensive scopes offer.
