Bushnell Trophy Cam 8.0

^ There is a website that did a review on all the trail cams on the market and the Reconyx had the best overall score of any camera.

I put out 2 cameras the other day. Will check them in a month...

do you happen to have a link for that website? My moltrie camera has #### the bed.....im in the market for a good one

I decided to retrieve the memory card from 1 of my cameras today; replaced it with a spare of course.

I had 264 images on that after 5 days. All whitetails, plus shots of myself just getting stuff organized after setting up. Just dink bucks and does though...

But decent pics and eventually maybe something big will show.

I bought 3 of these cameras from Cabelas.

Memory cards:
I had a guy tell me I should get 4GB. Is 2GB ok, or should I even consider 8GB?

.

2GB will give you around 1200 pics. One of my cameras is the same as yours, but an earlier one with 5mp, not 8mp, and mine will not accept anything over 2gb. Check your instructions to see what yours maxes out at.

My cam is set to take pics every 7 secs and set it at 5MP. Obviously I ended up with multiple pics of each deer... 264 images in 6 days.

I setup my camera over a lick, in a remote spot of bush. Beautiful location on a poplar ridge. :)

There are a few does and fawns and it looks like 3 different dink bucks.

Note: The times stamped on the pics are out exactly 12 hours; I have to change the clock setting on the camera.

Here's a few pics.

Latest pics.

About a 45"-47" bull moose. Nice brow palms.

TrailCam30652.jpg

A nice young buck. He's already got a great frame and in a couple years, if he makes it, he could be really big. Split G2 on the left side.

View from behind that buck. Great potential, but not a shooter yet.

Cool pics Demonical. The wife got me a Moultrie last year and I finally set it up a couple weeks ago over a grain pile along a bushline next door. I forgot the SD card and had to use the camera's internal memory so brought it home to download. Sure a lot of ravens & magpies around  but there were a few muley doe/fawn visits as well. I'm impressed at how well trail cams work now that I've tried one and will continue to use of mine for sure. Might even need a couple more...;)

I just got my Trophy 8mp XLT today! Just set it up on a tree looking over a game trail behind my back fence... my guess is I'll have a bunch of coyote and bambi pics by tomorrow morning! :)

It's totally silent when it takes pics. The only thing that makes noise is when the IR filter slides over the lense when switching from day to night mode.

Dead deer walking if it crossed my path :D

BCBigbore, I have a Moultrie from a few years ago(which is dying) and it makes a clicking sound when the pic is taken. Are the newer ones silent like the Bushnell cams???

I don't know about the Moultrie cameras, but I have seen enough of this Bushnell to recommend it to anyone! They are Uber-small, only 4"x6", super light obviously. Run on 8 AA batteries, take an SD card up to 16GB, 0.2 sec trigger time on the thing. Dirt simple device to configure.

I don't know if an animal can hear the thing or not, but the thing is digital, I don't see how it would make any noise.

I just bought another one today actually. I bought 3 from Cabela's but they're sold out now, so I went on eBay and bought one from an online hunting supply store in the USA. So I'll have 4 of them once that one arrives. :)

New pics off the camera that I have set up over a lick.

First time I've seen this buck and he only appeared in this single shot. Looks like a very symmetrical 5x5.

Another nice buck, first time on camera, but I got a ton of pics of this buck. He's got a bit of an uneven rack, dagger type brow tine on the right. Got a pretty decent frame, not very even though.

Both these moose are sleeping in this pic.

Just wanted to update status on 1 of my cameras. I setup one Oct. 21 last year, on a skidder trail, in a cutblock. I know that it was buried under snow from about Mid-Dec on until early April basically, because there is a void there with no pics. Pulled the memory card on May 27th. So that was 7 months on those batteries.

That thing performed flawlessly in the snow, -40 temps, etc. The batteries were still good too! Energizer Lithium Ion batteries, but I replaced them anyway. I'm gonna stick 'em in my camera, just to try to see how much more is left in them.

I got 387 pics, although 250 were of nothing but trees blowing in the wind. Got a few pics of coyotes and moose.

Working well at -40, that's impressive. I have the older 5.0 model, and using regular Duracell batteries I had over 800 pic's on it and I still had some battery power left. Keep in mind mine was not left out in -40 temps, but I am sure I could have gotten 1000 pic's on one set of batteries. I been thinking of getting one of those black flashes for it so I can run some video's without having the IF glowing red for so long.

For a camera under $200 I think they perform real well, and compared to the Moultrie I40 I used to have, it is wayyyy smaller and easier to conceal, and has many more options.

Pretty impressive. I am always worried that the electronics will #### the bed at -40 but given your experience with them, and the quality of pictures, my concerns are diminishing.

I just went and retrieved the trail camera from my moose camp. I've had it in that same spot for nearly 2 years. Anyway, got a couple of pretty cool pics, which I thought I'd share.

FYI; this camera was put in place spring of 2011, so these pics were taken over the course of the last year. There's actually a pretty cool sequence of time elapse, where you can see the snow depth accumulation, with reference to the log crib I built.
The pile of logs you see, I built, to funnel game around it, closer to the camera.

Oh yeah, the times & dates are all f**ked up. I didn't think to set the camera up properly, when I put it in place. My bad...

A big black bear.

Moosecamptrailcamera561.jpg

Wile-E Coyote...

Moosecamptrailcamera257.jpg

This is a pretty decent bull moose, somewhere right about 50" rack. He's standing with his legs spread, a small branch dangling off the left side of his rack. So it's clearly some point of time (early) in the rut I'd say.

Moosecamptrailcamera258.jpg

Next pic, he is launched, forward charging toward something, almost certainly another bull moose; but he could be rushing toward a cow. You can see the back legs thrust out behind him, front legs driving back also.
He's got a malevolent look to him...

Something else really cool about this bull moose; we found his shed a couple of years ago. Check this out.

Pics of me and my nephew holding a nice shed. When you compare it, you can see that it's the exact same, just a bit bigger now.
