I am posting this to talk quickly on my thoughts on my TRS-25 after buying and putting about 500rds through my Vz58. I was looking for an affordable, more range worthy, than hard use red dot to mount of my Vz58 until I get out of college in a couple months and can buy an Aimpoint.

I bought this on sale and paid about $100CAD for it, so I did not expect anything amazing as far as durability but I expected to have a red dot that worked all the time at the range, needless to say I give this sight about a couple more range trips before it is probably shot.

For anyone interested I have it on a quick detach, receiver mounted side rail for a vz58 and the rail is super solid and I bought it and installed it myself (drilling and tapping too). Super happy with that product from CSA. It holds zero everytime I remove it via the quick detach lever and re attach it. Although my sight has now began to flicker on certain brightness settings which disappoints me a bit.

The sight had to be almost maxed out on elevation adjustments to zero for 100m and windage remained relatively in the middle. This sight looks cool, is lightweight and handles ok but I don't think I could recommend this to anyone. My dad also bought one the shortly before me and put it on his mini-14 and it seems to be holding up a bit better but his is much less bright even with new batteries than mine is (but his doesn't flicker..yet), maybe it is the recoil impulse from my Vz58? I did change the batteries with high quality ones twice now and the same problem appears after about an hour of use. Thought I could expect more out of this red dot even for it being a budget one. I watched reviews on YouTube by nutnfancy, etc all saying it was a steal and quite durable. Oh well, you get what you pay for. I will be mounting an Aimpoint PRO on my Vz58 in a couple months and I expect that to perform outstandingly.

Anyone else had these same problems?

I use one on my PPS-50 .22LR, seems a good match for now. No issues yet with approx 300 rounds. I use Holosun for anything bigger than a .22LR.

That's what I was thinking I just haven't run it more than an hour on this new battery I put in and it works perfectly on the highest brightness setting but flickers on settings 7-9. Odd.

Never opened one up but I suspect they use a set of round contacts, think thin brass/copper lock washer, and as you turn the dial contact is made at different points. You might have a low or lose contact point. I've only had mine for a month so I can't say if this is a normal occurrence but I hope not. As they are water/fog proof I wouldn't want to take one apart if I didn't have to.

Only issue I have is the LED protrudes more than other sights in the bottom right side. Not a big deal but I was used to the smaller protrusion in the Holosuns.

I noticed that too. This is my first red dot so I wasn't sure of that is normal or not but it protrudes pretty far out I thought. Wasn't a big deal to me but worth taking note on. I might just switch it to my 10/22 for grouse hunting this fall and wait to get an aimpoint for my VZ.

I have mine since Jan 2017 and brought it every week mounted on my 22/45 Lite and shoot about 20 to 30 mins with it every session. I have yet to have to replace my battery on this red dot. Not sure how come you guys use up the battery so soon. My setting is around the middle brightness (3 or 4).

It is an awesome red dot for pistols with a rail on it like the 22/45 Lite since it sits very low.

:agree: Mine is on a Browning Buckmark Contour, I am very pleased with this unit.

I have used (still using) various models Aimpoint, Elcan, Eotech, Vortex sights.
My Bushnell TRS is mounted on a co-witness cz858 handguard rail, and I have been super happy with it.
No noticeable battery drainage issues, no maxed out zeroing adjustment issues.
I have tested it in inclement weather conditions and it's holding up good, but due to its price point the level of QC might not be consistent from unit to unit.
For the elevation issue, do you know the MOA of your rail? Have you tried the red dot on another gun?

I have 4 of them on different rifles...one being a vz58. Love this Red dot. I've had some flickering but found that the battery cover loosens up and causes this. Use a coin to tighten the cover while holding the base tightly (which is a little difficult) but it worked for me!

Try it and let me know if it works for yours.

I have a number of TRS's. I have the original battery in a couple of them and have never found them to eat batteries. In most cases I have experienced excellent battery life and they seem to hit much above their weight when it comes to value.

I don't know why companies continue to build red dot sites when prism scopes exist and in my experience are superior in every way, especially since allot of red dot sights get all wonky with some peoples eyes(like mine) . Your elevation issues will be the fact your mount is likely not level with the bore of your rifle.

Hey I have checked that regularly and it seems to be tightened sufficiently if anything just a hair over tightened. Thanks for the suggestion though.

After more research I am looking to get an Aimpoint PRO for it and also a primary arms 7.62 ACSS prism scope since I think the 3x magnification will be more useful especially for hunting. I did properly square the mount to the top of the receiver I know that but maybe it needs to be shimmed, it isn't a big deal to me but I will check it out more when I change optics. I do have formal machining training in college so I'm do know some things about checking square, although it could very well be an error on my part. I can always put a couple thou shim on the rear of the pic rail between the mount to correct this problem.

That is what I have read from just about everyone. I didn't expect a military grade red dot but I did expect it to hold up to the relatively light recoil of 7.62x39 considering I've heard a lot of people say they have mounted them on 12 gauges without problems.

I have three of these now. Two being the gold logo and one being white logo. The gold logo is superior in multiple ways. The dot is brighter crisper, more tactile clicks when switching brightness, dot doesn't fade away in top left corner. That being said even my white logo hasn't shown flickering yet but that sits on a .22lr semi auto. My golds sit on a CX4 and an SKS and they both have zero issues with upwards 1000 rounds each. Order off Amazon for $106 and hope you get gold logos like I did and you'll be one happy camper.

I didn't know about this difference until today. At this point I'll see what Bushnell will do for a warranty and I'm not willing to spend money on another when for 450 I can get an Aimpoint from the state's. Thanks for letting me know about this though maybe they can switch it for a gold logo at Bushnell or is it a different model?
