Hey all,

Trying to decide on what to get for a few of my tacticool toys that will also be my SHTF tools.

The main three firearms are: a VZ-58, a shorty M14 and a short slug only shotgun. I'm looking for reliability and dependability at a reasonable price.

Heard a lot of good about the TRS-25 and the SPARC and since both fall into the category that would fit my needs, I simply can't decide.

Please Help!!!

I've got thousands of rounds through a TRS-25 on my VZ. Zero issues and co-witnesses on the NEA rail. Still on the original battery after a year or more.

What's a SPARC worth and who sells them?

239+tax if i remember correctly. any vortex dealer will probaly carry them. grouse river has them for sure. grouse river is a excellent place to do business with and its a shame they are not a site sponsor.

I looked at them online and it looks like it sits taller (more distance between the top of the rail and the bottom of the glass) than the TRS-25. Does anyone have both to compare them side by side? If it's taller it probably won't co-witness on a VZ/NEA rail combo.

Getting the 2x magnifier included for that price is nice.

If SHTF is part of the deal just remember that the coating on the Bushnell TRS-25 reflects a huge red glow back at your target for a very long distance. Without any optics it can be seen at 50+ yards. Might scare the food away:p I really like mine but need to put a few k of rounds through it prior to commenting on how it holds zero. Have not gone swimming with it yet but am confident it will work after. Never tried a SPARC...

On a side note...the sparc is night vision compatible. I'm not sure about the Bushnell.

I have a Bushnell TRS -25 on my CZ858 on the NEA rail. It cowitnesses very nicely and has been excellent so far. I like the 3 MOA dot as I can still get good groupings at 100 meters. I have no idea how many rounds it has endured, but it holds zero and I am still on my first battery too. I plan on getting another for my mini 14.

One other thing that I thought of is that the Bushnell uses a 2032 battery which I have seen just about everywhere as it is a very popular one. That may be an issue someday.

No comparison.
Vortex wins hands down. Not only in longevity of use and ruggedness but also on quality control and warranty if ever needed.
Also these prices we seen are just there starting price. When I was talking to there West Coast Canada Rep. last week they said that next year prices will start increasing as they build there reputation and name brand awarness.
