Anyone but me have a problem with bushnell warranty??? Sent in a scope (scopechief 4x12x40 BDC) because of a faulty maginfication ring. They sent it back saying no warranty because of a bent scope tube !!! To which I say noway the scope has never been dropped or abused and what does it have to do with the mag. ring? Aboslutley no satisfaction!!! I then sent off a registered letter to the C.E.O. of the company in Canada outlining my problems and asked him for an acknoledgment of my letter..I tracked the letter through Canada Post and it was recieved.... to this date I have had no responce from anyone but its only been 6 months!!!! So much for their "LIFETIME WARRANTY" From being a dedicated Bushnell fan they turned me into anything but a sad commentary T.B.G.

How old was the scope? 25+yrs?...... from what I can find the scopechief doesn't have a life time warranty they were replaced by the Legend line which also does not have the life time warranty..... only the Elite scopes have the life time warranty and I know the B&L 3000/4000 scopes are covered as well.

Bent scope tube= Physical Damage=Voided Warranty

Here's a question why should Bushnell waste their money fixing a mag ring on a scope thats no good? i.e. bent tube??.....

I'm no fan of bushnells, but a bent tube can have everything to do with your mag ring not turning. The erector assembly has to move back and forth, and it cant go around corners.

I had a new Elite 3200 3x9x40 that was "DOA" a few years ago. I returned it to the Bushnell repair shop three times. Twice they "repaired" it. The last time I sent it back I wrote that I didn't want it back--- I wanted it replaced or a refund. They sent me a new Elite 3200 3x9x40 with fast-focus that is now on my '06 and performing beautifully.
I actually think I can't complain about their warranty. I think I just got a rare lemon.

Your lemon wasn't rare.

Maybe, but I AM shooting touching rounds now with the replacement scope they finally sent me and it was a lot cheaper than the Leupold VX ll I bought for my 25-06. Also the glass seems very clear and I like the fast-focus feature.

So I am unclear on something - did you get your scope back ? If so, was the tube actually bent ?

Bushnell Canada received a directive from their head office a few years back re: the scopechiefs

- do not warranty anything older than 20 years
- letter in serial # indicates the year of manufacturer

Scopechiefs were sold with a lifetime warranty, it was bushnell top of the line scope at the time until they acquired the elite line from B&L scope division. Company's changed ownership a few times, qualities not what it used to be, manf. work is farmed out to diff. third party manf.'s per scope line, read it cost them $28 for a scope they retail for $280.

Doubt if the tube was bent, it's a line used frequently by their service department, lost a lot of loyal customers as result of that BS.

It wasn't the clear that was my problem, it was the breakage. For one bitter 2 summer stretch, I had scopes coming and going so often that I wore a groove to the post office. 13 returns, plus 2 air-rifle scopes.
It gets sickening when you suspect a bad scope. First take the scope off and check everything for tightness. Shoot and test. Take a good scope off of another rifle, remount on the sick one. Shoot and test. Take good scope off and replace on it's own rifle and resight, send junk in then after 3 months mount it again and sightin again. Then there's gas to the range, ammo costs, postage costs and with bushnell they even want to charge you to look at their screw up. After it took them 3 tries to get yours running do you still think was a lot cheaper? I don't, which is why I don't have them anymore. I do have exactly 2 dozen Leupolds though. Maybe some day I'll manage to break one.

Bushnell replaced my tripod on a spotting scope, no cost, quickly. My experience was perfect with them.

And all that even after I told them I broke it myself, and that I was willing to pay for it.

You are right about all of that trouble and expense of course and I would not likely buy another one but they did at least make good in the end.
I have a Bushnell Trail Camera and a bear bit right thru the lens on said camera on it's first night in the bush and Bushnell replaced it under warrenty. A warranty on a bear bite is not too shabby I'd say. :D:D

bushnell warranty

just had similar experience with bushnell warranty, sent 2 scopes and trail camera back for repair, the older one ,a 10 yr old target scope was denied because of bent tube also even tho it never seen a bump or anything to do any damage ,it was on my 300 wby and performed well for years but the crosshairs started rotating inside ,they offered replacement of like scope at reduced price from retail, the other scope was only 2 weeks old and had the cross hairs pivoting a small amount when it was laid on it's side, they replaced it no problem but it took from Nov. 1st till Jan 15th to get it done ,the trail cam was only 8 months old and quit working and with proof of purchase they replaced it free of charge except the $10 shipping they charged for each even tho all 3 were shipped to them in same box ,so I guess service would be classed as so-so as the first scope definitely had no visible dents when it left here,I believe that's their favorite response when they get an older model and don't want to be bothered with warranty.
