I have been thinking on all these threads about certain optics, what to buy and such.

Curious to know how the Bushnell Elites compare to the older version
3200's?

I know both have been replaced by the 4500 series.

Anyone know or care to comment between specifically these two
models of optics?

The Elite series is an upgrade from the 3200 afaik

Recoil tested with 375H&H, Rainguard, great light gathering. All in all a great optic for the price.

Here's the Bushnell propaganda page:

If you'd like to buy a brand new sealed in box silver one I know a fella that has one for sale :)

The glass and adjustment range on my old 3200 10x40 was better then the new offerings.
Tradex has some NOS Elite's for good prices, the 3-10x40 short action is a great optic.

The glass on my newest "Elite Tactical" 6-24x50 is clearer at full mag then the glass on my older "Elite Tactile 4200" 6-24x50.

I believe the 3200 was only multi-coated on the lenses that are exposed to air. The 'Elite' with no number was fully multi-coated similar to the 4200 series. As to which is better I have 2 3200's, 2 elites, a B&L 4000, and a 4200. They have all been great scopes for my uses. Depending on the price they are all great!

I have a bunch of older 4200 Elite scopes with the AO and I just love them. If I recall, you have one on your M77 do you not? I was told that they have the same glass as NF. I compared them to a high end Sightron and preferred the older 4200 Elite with AO. Certainly the AO is not as convenient as a side focus knob but the glass in my opinion is outstanding. Sorry I can't comment on the 3200 so I guess my comments here are not helpful in addressing the OP. What is your interest in the 3200? A lower cost 4200?

Is that E3940B Tradex has for 299 a good deal? Tried to find info on it. I remember looking at one back in the day can't remember what I paid, plan on putting it on a vanguard S2 30.06

I already told yew wutt I tawt.

I would Google E3940B for sale in canada and see what comes up.

Al Flahtrey's, site sponsor has the 3500 on sale and some interesting
prices at Dante's in Montreal.

I have heard nothing but good about the elite. I have a few 4200' s and think I would buy one. Don't go with side focus, those with side focus are made in China . Rest of elite are still made in Japan.

It's a good deal if you want the DOA reticle, I like regular ole crosshairs... This is a better scope IMHO, better eye relief.

Bullseye wants $400 for the same scope.

I thought all of the Bushnell Elite series scopes were made in Japan.

Surprising no... apparently some of the newer side focus ones are made in China. I did a bunch of research on the different versions of the elite series of scopes and that's what different people in different forums are saying anyways.

They did a run of the Elites in China and quickly stopped, but that was a long time ago, none of the Elites today are made there.
The Legends are made in China.
The new Trophy HD30mm are likely as well, look identical to Simmons Predator Hunter scopes, Bushnell also owns Simmons (and Tasco).

So as I understand there was a special run of 3x9 side focus Elite scopes made in China & this item has now been renamed the Legend.

I hope Bushnell don't play any more games with the Elite series of scopes, they have an excellent reputation that should not be lowered by using cheap Chinese products.

I've got a 4200 on my old Ruger and the clarity is pretty sweet.
I should of included the 4500's on the top of this thread as well.

Where do they come in at for "goodness"?

My 4200 is messed up because i smacked it accidentally while hunting. Pretty good fall i took. Scope hit a rock. Zero effect to function, just some aesthetic damage... I like it, has some character and a story now haha. The glass is very clear and it is my preferred deer rifle scope.

And the older Legends (Made in Philippines) were great scopes for the price, the new Made in PRC not so much...
From memory anyway:
Banner is Korea made
Trophy is Philippines
Legend, Reddots & most AR Optics China, the PCL Throwdown or whatever is made in Korea
All Elites made in Japan.
