......Bushnell.........

I have an Elite 3200, one with just Elite and a new Elite 3500 I just got from Bushnell all 3-9x40. I can see no noticeable difference. The Elite might be just slightly clearer towards the edges but it is on a rifle that holds very steady for me so it is probably a wash.

As far as Chinese glass goes, I have a couple of sets of Chinese Legend Ultra HD binoculars in 8x36 and 10x42 and they both as good or better than every scope in the house. These have the Prime ED glass in them so perhaps that is the difference.

I also have a new 3-9x40 VX2 and I don't see a huge difference from Bushnell Elite 3200/3500 scopes, the Leupold might be just slightly crisper but I would take the rain guard coating of the Bushnell. The Leupold does have noticeably more eye relief at the lower powers and looking in the direction of the sun the Bushnells have a very slight bit of veiling that is not apparent on the Leupold. I bought the Leupold for my son and to his eye the VX2 is clearer and looks better on his rifle, so to each his own.

BTW, I sent a pair of Bushnell Excursion EX with a sloppy focus wheel and received a new upgraded Excursion HD in 8x42 for the cost of shipping. Not as nice as the Ultra HD Legends but plenty good for hunting and very impressive for the purchase price of +/- $200.

I also sent in my sons old 3200 that seemed to have a but of haze in it. The power adjustment was very stiff when new and I got it on a heavy discount when purchased about 10 years ago because of this. It never bothered him as he pretty much left it on 4X all the time. I noticed before I sent it in that the power adjustment was now turning freely so probably a dry or pinched O ring from assembly. A new 3500 was on the door step in about 2 weeks, again for the cost of shipping. Now I just have to decide if I should buy another rifle or sell the scope.

Anyway, love my Bushnells and probably wont bother any other brands going forward as long as the quality and CS stays as is.

Resurrecting an older thread - Elite "no number"

I put a Bushnell Elite [no number] 4-16X50 on my Tikka T3 'yote gun in 22-250. It shows as "Made in Japan". I bought mine at the same time I picked up the rifle at the old LeBaron's about a year ago.

No complaints about the glass, or edges, or any of the usual potential grouches with some of the Bushnells that pop up now and again. I attribute a lot of the quality of the scope to the Japanese sourcing.

It came with the sunshade for the objective which I've never used.

But try as I might, I can't find out much about these "no number" Elites. Before I bought it, I looked for reviews online, and scoured CGN but all I ever saw were the references to Elite 3500/4500 etc. I'm starting to figure that perhaps not too many were ever brought in to Canada.

Were these ever really a popular scope? Again, no complaints, I got it at a very good price from the LeBaron's in Markham, one of the guys there that I knew fairly well dragged it out in a factory-sealed box from under the counter, told me it was the last one they had in any of their stores, and was doing a mark-down to offload it from their inventory (can't remember exactly how much I paid, but it seems I recall around $500, marked down from the original price sticker on the box which was $799 or $899 or something like that). I scooted out to the parking lot and did a search on the scope before I went back and just said "OK, I'll take it" on impulse, instead of putting on a spare Nikon original Monarch (no number) which I had kicking around.

Just curious to see if anybody else on the forum has the same, or similar with a different mag or objective - and what they think of 'em.

The 4200 3x9 is comparable to a VXII
Nice and clear and crisp...3200 not a bad scope...
Had 6-24x 4200 years ago and loved it...

I am of the opinion that the 4200 is clearer than the VX II.
At least with my eyes.
Now to figure out where this new 4500 fits in.
I was going to sell it, but the clarity is pretty darn impressive.
What to do what to do. 🤔

And the older Legends (Made in Philippines) were great scopes for the price, the new Made in PRC not so much...
From memory anyway:
Banner is Korea made
Trophy is Philippines
Legend, Reddots & most AR Optics China, the PCL Throwdown or whatever is made in Korea
All Elites made in Japan.

I have a Trophy made in Korea. It is over 10 years old, so that only says not all Trophy models ever were made in the Philipines. I should think you are right about current production.

Yessir, current production only....older Banners were made in Japan (B&L period) at one time as well.
