So I hit up DVC (newer indoor range in Port Coquitlam) the other night to put some rounds down range.

Took my S&W 5946 and my G22

Wow do I love .40! I always have this stigma shooting where I can't imagine the 9mm doing damage. When I shoot my Norinco .45, I get annoyed by the limited rounds, and I do fatigue substantially quicker. However, the .40 seems to be a happy medium.

The 5.5lb trigger is great, I've been reading the trigger hate for Glocks, but I didn't mind it. It sure beats the 12 lbs of pressure on the S&W.

I'm looking to expand the arsenal and think I'll be buying up a lot .40 in different models.

I also picked up a third mag for the 22. I should soon be able to get myself organized for black badge. Just need to decide on a holster.

5.5lbs would be good, my stock one is at 8lbs right now, might get the disconnector later on, but meh....

Have you shot a lot of 9mm, from what I have read, people seem to find the 40s more snappy.

I was there too. I was the guy down on the right side with the shotguns.

I've shot some .40 and found that it definetly has more kick than the 9mm. As for your .45ACP eperience I've found that I actually prefer it to the 9mm even. Shooting from a single stack 1911 I find that the .45 has more push but less slap than my 9mm. I'd guess this has something to do with the gun itself. But my own 1911 is still a work in progress. Like yours my trigger pull is brutally heavy and that results in it being almost impossible to not pull off target before it goes bang. Gotta get a spring kit for it and from there go with some sear angle alterations to ease it down to around 3'ish lbs.

8 rounds not enough? Then get a double stack :D Mind you going with .40 sets you up for shooting major in IPSC so it's not a bad option.

Yes, the .40 S&W is a wicked round, especially Federal 180 gr. Hydra-Shock HP. If you want to expand your collection, try getting a stainless Beretta 96FS / Sig P226 / HK USP....enjoy :)

It is more snappy...I was firing 180 gr American Eagle, but I found I was back on target with little issue. I also find the glock to be more accurate, I think it's related tot he fact the front sight is a bit larger and thus quicker to orientate.

In the last year and a half I've fired off about 5500-6000 rnds due to training. I've only fired off a box of .40

The snappiest round I've fired was my pop's 10mm with some hot loads. That wasn't such an enjoyable experience.

haha, and no, I don't see the glock going kaboom anytime soon. no lead rounds in that chamber.
