whats the going rate for butchering deer or moose in your hunting areas?
for a standard butchering job for moose for us in the dryden ,fort frances area we pay $0.45 cents a lb..that,s cut wrapped and frozen for the trip home.
were we deer hunt in the the bobcaygeon area..its a set rate a $70.00 for a deer..
thats cut wrapped and frozen

I think it's $35 for a deer at my family's shop, cut and wrapped, not frozen. That includes up to 7 days of cold storage for the carcass. I can't remember what the rate is for moose, don't get a lot of them on mainland NS, not many hunters get drawn in our area for the CB hunt.

Woods & Water Hunting Club. We have over 1000 acres of property to hunt on not far from Toronto (furthest is 2 hours). Each plot is mapped for us and gives us a rating on each game animal so you know how abundant they are there. The regular price is $500 for a year (12 months, not just deer season) so you can camp on the property all summer, hunt ground hogs, turkey etc. Most of the plots have tree stands already there in prime areas for us to use and a few have ground blinds as well. In most cases when you reserve a plot to hunt on no one else can be there so you have it all to yourself (100+ acres).

I *think* Rob (The owner) will give you a discount if you know someone in the club. Feel free to use my name (John Marshe) since your a fellow CGN. 1-888-523-4868

$500 for a thousand acres:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I usually offer my landowners a roast or two:runaway:, and they usually say they don't want anything, just shoot the damn raccoons and coyotes:runaway:

Edited to add butcher costs:

$60 is the going rate here, SW Ontario, although, I cut up my own deer. I do like getting pepperettes made, $3/pound is what I pay for that, a good deal when you consider buying a single pepperettte for a $1 at the corner store

At first I thought it was pricey too 7.62mm but the whole 1000 acres is not one piece of land. Its scattered in roughly 150 acre plots for different kinds of animal populations. Add into the fact there are ladder stands on each property so you just need to walk in and climb to hunt isn't too bad I don't think.

Thats who does it for our club. His price to club members is $60 flat rate regardless of size but I'm not sure what he charges non-members. Might be the same price. He is in Hastings, Ontario which is up by our club. About 2 hour drive.

Why not do it yourself?
over our years of hunting.we bought the saw /burgar maker/sausage stuffers..
but after a 24 hour drive home from our moose hunt..id rather sleep in the next day..then have to wake up to a butchering job..
besides you can neaver rely on the weather to keep the meat till you get home
