Found this on sniperhide...

I happened to be in a friends auto shop today and swore I had smelled Butches Bore Shine in the air. I realized he was using GM Top Engine Cleaner on an older vehicle he was servicing.15 oz.= $6.75,Butches Bore Shine=$16.00 for 16 oz..I took the container home and guess what when I compared the ingredients-THEY ARE THE SAME! [Eek!] . I mean EXACTLY the same.I guess I'll save myself 10 bucks a bottle-I think the stuff works very well.

GM cleens(AC Delco) combustion chamber cleaner is ~ $6.75 anywhere in Canada. Butches Bore shine is $20+ most places I've seen it. Put it into dispensing bottles to avoid contaminating it causing it to lose it's effectiveness.

What do you use it for? Sorry dumb question.

Once I met someone who used it for cleaning out the powder fouling from a centerfire rifle. He said it's just as good as the expensive stuff. He used something else for copper, it reeked of ammonia.

Why would this get moved to Gunsmithing? :?

talking about gun cleaning is abotu as "General Firearms Discussion" as you can get!

It's so hard to understand things here sometimes...

That's too funny! Sad part is that it is probably true.

If ssgp2 says the ingredients are the same, then i believe with total certitude it is

I'm not the one who wrote the article, just pick it up from another forum.
It was confirm to me by Armtech Canada

Take care!

I use sometimes CT Brake Cleaner (blue bottle). But take care of good ventilation! It's similiar to the stuff dry cleaner use. Highly cancerous! It contains Tetrachlorethylen. Very dangerous for water, environment, skin, eyes. Can explode in combination with O2 and my build Phosgen under temp. over 150C!! Be aware that many of those highly efficient cleaners are very toxic! Don't poison yourself while fondling your guns.
