Hi I have am a bit of a noob on here still and have taken up a rather penchant for 22Lr. I purchased a 10/22 from a local dealer and set to work on my obsession. I purchased an 10/22 Butler creek 25rnd mag at an inflated price (I forgot to check SFRC) price from a local dealer where I got my gun. About 45 days from purchase my mag splits in two (no not an OBD).:sucks:Anyways the local dealer said contact Butler Creek and I have had quite an awful time with there CS/repair department. So I decided to post a couple pics from the inside of the mag in case anyone was wondering what really goes on inside a transparent magazine.

Also I wish I had purchased my ammo through a CGN sponsor. I purchased what I though was a box of Winchester hollow point copper plated rounds and instead got Power-point rounds that seem generally inaccurate.

Do any CGN sponsors still bring this old stuff in I really liked it in my gun.

Please feel free to PM me if you think my noobishness/crabiness belongs somewhere else and I wish Butler Creek reads the CGN rim-fire forum.:D Maybe I will have to splurge on some of those 3pak of promags that the hical guys are tempting me with. I now have a sudden urge to go plinking at the middle of the night. (I'll have to wait until the nice sunny weekend to keep things legit).

I would just lightly sand the plastic then get plastic glue from the hardware store it's 2 bottles you put 1 on 1 side and the other on the other side and it will metal the plastic and be back together. It shouldn't be to hard if you have all the parts.

So how did it break? drop it a few times before? or just stuck it in had a dud round go off in the chamber?

I've found .22LR firearms can be finicky about ammo sometimes. You may have to try a bunch of brands to find one your rifle likes. That said, my little savage F will eat anything, but my wife's 10/22T likes CCI standard best. Some guns like high velocity rounds and some like sub-sonic. Try a box of each and see what shoots best. Expensive, but lots of fun too. (for the record the "best" .22LR I've found is Federal gold match- like it even better than Eley)

It just broke I was had acquired the Sasquatch of 22Lr. (CCI minimags) hoping to fix some persistent feeding issues instead It fed 2 rounds and then split in two.
I am really hoping I can break through to the customer service dept at Bushnell and make them understand that a young person does not sent away a $45 mag on there own dime and put $10 bucks in the package for return shipping.
The mag along with the gun has been babied beside being a little dirty it was in fine shape before it split in two.

The brands I have tried so far that it liked are. CCI (Green tag, std velocity,Stingers (groups the best),Velocitor ), Remington game loads, Federal God match and American Eagle. Every thing Winchester except power point and subsonic, Obrea Hollow point.
The stuff I tried that it dislikes: Anything subsonic, Remington Vipers, Winchester Power-point, Federal Bulk.

I know it's just a typo, but if you know some of the guys who shoot this stuff, you know how funny that is.

No really I have a Federal God match it has a little picture of Mary on it and it has been blessed by a priest jk. (I am not trying to offend anyone religious peoples/myself)

I used it when first sighting in my scope I thought it was rolled Gold (note not rolled God) since then I have moved to silver cased pastures. Here are a couple of pics of some 10 rnd groups I got at 50yrds while shooting from the bench.

Note the center group is the Federal Gold Match and the group to the right is Winchester T22 and the bottom group is 5rnds CCI Green dot shot while standing.

And this is a 10rnd group of CCI Stingers shot at 50yrds from the bench.

Just for fun here is a pic of mostly everything I have ever shot (I have a few new rounds I am waiting to try out.

Try and name them all I dare you.

P.S. I realize that my engrish is not the most amazing thing to be hammered through a qwerty keyboard since the AppleII and I am also posting online after an 8+ hour shift 3hrs sleep and I should probably sleep some more and caffeine some less. I will post some pics of the current ammo I have on hand. :D

Some more ramblings on about Ammunition.
Here are some pics I took tonight of the rounds I had kicking around in the safe.

The rounds featured in this pic left to right are: (CCI Stinger,Mini Mag)(Federal 31 grain, Gold Match,Regular, American Eagle plated hollow-point)(Remington Game Loads, Vipers)(Winchester 555's,Dynapoint,Super X HP, Power-point, Obrea/SuperX lead HP, T22)

A commentary on the plated HP rounds from Federal they all look like this. Grimy and with nonuniform levels of colour and copper wash. I don't know if it is the lubricant or what but all the Federal stuff I have tried 31grn,36grn, American Eagle and one other one I forget.
Bellow is some CCI stingers in near mint condition given that the rounds are almost 3x more expensive I would have expected that but even the worlds cheapest 555's come out looking pretty spiffy.

I personally do not believe the type of ammunition Lubricant affects my gun that much considering I fire sub 500rnds in a session and fully strip and clean my rifle. Having switched from M-pro to G96 you can eat off my bolt assembly when it is done (I don't as fish oil leaves a bad taste on everything).

Today I broke through to an actual human being at Bushnell Canada who helped me get my order shipped off (sans $10 return shipping).

I need moar ammo can.

Most Remington and Winchester .22 has shot terrible for me in my rifles and pistols. I pretty much shoot CCI Blazer bulk exclusively now as it's accurate and reliable in everything I shoot it in.

I had a friend who told me to stay far far away from blazer and Winchester and Remington I kinda wondered what he actually uses in his 10/22 as he shoots often he is to cheep to use most CCI stuff. Personally I have hated shooting the Viper rounds as they look like crayons but they have cycled horribly even in the rotary mags. The game loads were not the most magical ammo ever existing but for the price I paid they where cheep as rocks the only thing I have seen cheaper are 555's from Winchester or the gunky Federal American Eagle.

So I still have not got a replacement from Butler Creek. I went to a local gun shop and picked up this.

Edit: I just realized I posted a pic of what not to do with the mag as a I got ahead of myself and loaded in a nice new stripper clip without first retracting the thumb stud and locking it in place.:p

It is the Hc3r mag made in the USA and available online from the a couple CGN vendors (Hical).
I must say it loads all the ammo I threw at it even the Remington Vipers. I picked up one mag but a few extra back-strap stripper clips. I could easily load 20rnds in under 30 secs. the only downside as shown in this following pic is I went through a lot of ammo.
IMG_0637.JPG

okay I went through close to 1200 rounds in a short amount of time.

The mag fit snugly and fully disassembles also if you want to slim it up a bit you can remove the side ammo pocket.
A couple more gratuitous pics.
