Butler Creek steel lip FTF?

Well went shooting tonight with my 1022. Fired around 500 rounds of Winchester 555. And a couple boxes of Federal gold.
I have 1 brand new BC steel lips mag and 1 older one.
May times tonight I had FTF's where I would see the round partially pushed out of the mag and jammed just above the breech instead of going into the barrel. This happed with the new mag many times and a few as well with the old mag. I found that it seems that the new mag needs to be broken in a bit. If I loaded 25 rounds I would have an issue with the next round not feeding at all. Seems like there is some restriction when I load 25 rounds but works ok with 15.
Maybe I should load the mag with 25 and let it sit for a couple days? Any other ideas?
Edit also the 1022 is mounted into an Archangel 556 stock.

Is your 10/22 clean? If the action is very dirty, this can happen. I have only seen it in colder weather. The old oil/dirt mixture gets gummy & slows down the action causing FTL

Yep it was cleaned well before shooting it.

I wrap a layer or 2 of electrical tape around the top of my mags. You'll find they fit much better without looseness and ftf's. Costs 5 cents and totally worked for me.

I have exactly the same problem with my 2 older steel lips mags. Also with a clean gun and an Archangel stock. I'm looking for a factory mag to try but I've been busy and haven't been able to get one. I will try the tape trick though. TC

Well I pulled my gun apart. Buffed parts on bench grinders cloth buffing wheel. Buffed the guide rod a bit, buffed the bolt. Oiled lubed. Buffed the inside lips to the BC mag.
Now I will try some other ammo other than the Winchester 555. Let's see how it goes now.
BTW the tape trick. No go its tight enough it won't even go in the mag well with 1 layer of elecrical tape so its obviously not the "fit" of the BC magazine. Gonna shoot a brick of CCI High velocity and see how they work.
