Butt Plate ~ID~ help needed

Showed the butt plate beside an 1892-94 Winchester plate (right) for comparison. Size is quite close. The unidentified plate is wider and has a turned down toe.

Have a look at Tracks of the Wolfs on line catalogue.

Look like a muzzle loading rifle butt plate.

That is the same style that is on my 45-70 Remington Rolling Block.

Left butt plate with a "toe" is off an EARLY Win 1886 ... (4 digit serial number)

Right butt plate is for later 1886 (6 digit serial number)

How do I know ... I have each rifle...

Here it is mocked up on an early '86 stock. Quite a bit smaller. The right plate was removed from an 1892 for size reference.

Do appreciate the input and still looking for more.

The serial number resembles a Whitney Kennedy , they had a letter followed by number and the stock are very robust.

Google: "Perch Belly stock" for picture, then refer back to see how the TOP of the buttplate fits the stock "as is" BUT ... bottom WOULD fit the stock if it were of the PERCH BELLY version of a EARLY model Win 1886. Of greater significance is how/if the pictured buttstock's holes/screws mate up with the reciever...
