Buy a Russian Capture K98

Where would one find a Russian Capture K98 for purchase. Or a normal German K98 blued and not polished original non snpier model.

I love WWII era firearms and German and Russian are of particular interest.

I think your best bet is to watch the Equipment Exchange on this site. Not too sure if you've signed up for the EE or not, but that would be my starting point.

I got the one at epps. Ugly as sin but a early dated version with a supposedly good bore ( this I have to see).

Been looking for a nice decent priced K98 for a while now and have never seen a genuine German piece on the Trade Ex site. You must have snagged a variant?

Tradeex only has rc vz 24s they are made in Czechoslovakia, they are some of the best mausers quality wise but they aren't as cool as kar98s

If you luck out you might be able to find a nice one on the EE, if 8mm isn't your thing then an Israely Mauser might be more for you, Israel baugh many captured k98s and converted some to 7.62x51(.308). Some of them might be a bit mix and match( k98 stocks with straigh bolt handles among other things)but there's nothing wrong with them the Israelies didn't mess around or cut corners with their guns because their lives depended on them.

I find the Israely mausers to be more interesting in my opinion since they didn't only fight threw possibly ww1, ww2 but also few more wars in the Middle East.

Don`t forget the Germans and others used the VZ24 during WW2. The Czechs just kept making them for the Germans till 41 or 42 at Bysticia and till 42 or 43 At Brno, then they switched over to making the K98k.

You have to be prepared to act fast on the EE. A very nice non matching K98k sold for a little less than $600 a couple days ago. It was only up for (at best) a day before SPF.

I too am looking for a decent RC K98 that has not been altered since the Russians overhauled them, but they go pretty quick around here. I think the RC has a real place in history.
