Would a box of say 100 equal "quantity"?
Thanx guys.
i guess technically you can buy bullets from the states...your just not allowed to leave with them. bummer huh?!?!
Nope. Buying them is not legal if you are canadian either.

What happens if you get caught "smuggling" them across? I have a buddy who does , hides them in his luggage. Says they can't do much. I'm just curious if I have to bail him out lol.
I kinda thought so! I will let him know. Whether he listens or not well thats his problem. ThanksIt depends on the particular situation. If they are hidden in his luggage, the authorities likely won't believe that he didn't know that it wasn't allowed, and they might go much harder on him. At the very least, he can expect to be banned from entering the USA in the future. If they believe that he is aware that it is illegal, they can seize his vehicle, and send him back to Canada on foot. The best case scenario, is that if the goods didn't appear to be hidden, and the authorities believed that he didn't know that it was illegal, they might just seize the goods, and let him off with a long lecture. However, he would likely be scrutinized much closer on any future trips to the USA.

I ordered 2000 .50 350gn bullets from the States last year. I had to get an import permit (all done online) and send it to the exporter. He had to send the paperwork to the State dept and they gave him an export permit. Then he mailed the bullets to me along with all the paperwork. It took a total of about a month from the time I started to the time the bullets arrived at my door. Total cost was about 1/3rd the price of buying them in Canada.
I just checked out the link that was posted, and compared the prices to the prices that I just bought bullets for last week from Budget Shooting supplies. For the Sierra 69gr .224 Matchkings, there was a difference of $2 per box, which amounts to less than 10% difference. As well, the credit card company will charge me a currency exchange rate of around 2% cutting the difference to around 8%. When I add in the cost difference for shipping the 1000 bullets from the USA,any savings are gone. And that is assuming that there are no import/export charges.

The supplier at the link charges a 10% fee for the export permit, so it would have actually cost me as much or more to order from them. When I add in the cost difference for shipping the 1000 bullets from the USA, I would have spent more than I did when I purchased the bullets from Budget Shooting Supplies.
