I am glad that everyone has the right info. I am unaware of a good dealer in Canada who sells stuff to gouge their customers. There is a cost to importation and why our pricies are different then our friends down south.
Margins on reloading components are some of the lowest in the retail world and even the big boys are reducing what they offer - just look at how little is offered in the various mail order catalogs.
Far more money to be made in camo underwear
When calculating costs, remember that currency exchange on a CC can be up to 5 CENTS more then what you see on the news. some companies charge a CC fee of 2% on the grand total.
some freight carriers have a brokerage fee that can run from $50 to 100 dollars ABOVE any cost of international freight, and shipping lead isn't going to be cheap
Then there may be a clearing fee with someone like can post. you will still face your prov tax so no freebie there.
for smaller quantities, it really doesn't make a lot of sense. I have discussed this with some shooters who still went ahead to import. They have all returned in disgust of how many fees are tacked on. Their final bills were more then what I would have charged them.
I found that out years back for my own shooting and how Mystic Precision was born.
There is economies in Scale and I can get my own stuff for less
YMMV.
