Buy Reloading press from States

Hi, I have learned some reloading ideas from this forum as a newbie.
I might go Hornady LNL classic press kit with diffrent dies. I found it is cheaper than Canada in US. Can we bring it back to Canada without considering as firearm things?
Would you suggest anything I missed if I want to make .308 Win and 9mm.

9mm shell holder
.308 shell holder
.308 2 set dies
9mm dies
Bullet puller
brass, bullet, primer, powder

I will buy tumbler later.

This is asked every other day. You can bring back equipment without the U.S. export permit. You will have to pay taxes. No components.
 
I have found that you save a considerable amount of money buying reloading gear from the states.. lots of big online vendors ship inexpensively to Canada.
 
Echo the "no components" (brass, bullets, powder primer). Also, make sure your stuff is not sent UPS - their brokerage fees are ludicrous.

Oh, and you will need case trimming equipment sooner or later.
 
So you would help our Canadian retailers dry up because you want to save some $?

I bought a Hornady LnL-AP from my local gun shop because I want them to stay local. I could have probably saved $100 or so from buying in the US (Including shipping), but I'd rather support the industry HERE.
 
Thanks all for replies. Since I have registred a shipping address in Blain, i usaually pick up my online orderfrom there without asking for international shipping.

You expect loyalty? Not in my experience as a commerrcial bullet maker.

I'd rather support local shops as well, but the LNL AP press was around $200 cheaper all said and done (from the states).

I'm not made of money, and to shoot as much as I want, sometimes you gotta buy from the states.

Shooters complain that components and other equipment aren't available in Canada? YOU are part of that problem. IMHO

I'm just saying.......
 
I chose to buy my 1050 from a local dealer (CRAFM in Montreal) I could have saved a bit buying from the US...but there is a difference between price and value. Frank has always gone above and beyond for me (as have most of the local dealers...many of whom are also site sponsors) so...they get my business

You will need a way to measure that powder. A scale is a must, a volumetric powder measure makes things go MUCH faster, I wouldn't be without one.

Does the LNL Classic have on-press priming?

For what it's worth, I loaded for over 10 years before I bought a tumbler, and almost 20 before I got a bullet puller. They are not necessities.

We are not talking about "hard to import" items here. If there is no demand for your products at the price your are asking, it's the client's fault? Please be quiet.

Hell ya.... 'Sorry, but if they can't compete for whatever reason why should I pay more just to float someone elses business. Bottom line is dollars in my pocket.

Of course Jarlath... If I had your money I'd burn mine... :D

Probably hard for someone to understand if they don't believe in free markets. :rolleyes:

They supply issue isn't just because people buy stuff from the states, the firearms industry is also highly regulated and the american buying demand is also huge. These are likely more applicable reasons why we don't have stuff in Canada, not because Canadians won't buy it.

I will echo the UPS and also add that FedEx is the same as UPS, only have things shipped USPS. It might take a few days longer with regular mail but you won't be hit with sticker shock when you go to pick it up.

Post Office charges 5 bucks for the brokerage fee and then the gst cost of the item. So $100.00 item will be 5 brokerage and 5 for gst = $10.00

UPS and FedEx charge a variable rate but I think the cheapest brokerage fee is 25.00 for anything over 40.00. So for a package that is labeled as 45.00 you will show up to pick up your package and have to pay 25.00 brokerage fee and then 2.25 gst =$27.25 for a 45.00 package.
 
If I can save 200 bucks on a press I will buy it in the states. Just like if we could buy guns, and components in the states you would do the same. I am a university student working part time and this hobby is an expensive one. Stop it with the "holier than thow" attitude. In any market the lowest price is gonna get the sale. I work in retail selling cell phones and everyday someone tells me "its cheaper at ......" I am not gonna cry about it. Such is life. If canadian retailers can't be competitive than they lose the business. May not be there fault but not everyone has an extra $200 to throw away.
 
Last February I picked up a Lee 4 hole turret press for 99.95 US....Not sure of the standard Cdn price.
Picked up an RCBS Promelt casting furnace for $299.00. Price here now is anywhere from $499 to $519.95
Bought some Lee bullet lube for half the price it is here. 300 win mag dies were on sale for 29.95......$60.00+ dollars here.
That's not just saving a little. That's saving a LOT. As for the local guys...I patronize them plenty. I wouldn't have every bought a Promelt for $500.00 because that's crazy money for a melting furnace. Local guys wouldn't have got the sale anyway.
