Sad to see people taking advantage of others, but it goes on all the time. Nothing new to those reading this thread, for sure. I have tables at a few gun shows in western Canada, mostly SK. I tell the young guys buying milsurps to be sure of two things: 1. Do the research for whatever field you are interested in; 2. Have cash ready.
Sometimes, I've bought restored Lee Enfields and resold them, always with full info regarding the restore job. Some people simply want a nice old rifle to have and enjoy. That's their business, and hopefully they didn't get a bull dung story to go with it. I cringe when I hear a dealer expounding the virtues of a firearm when I know very well it is BS.
On the other hand, sometimes the people buying and looking at firearms can't be convinced of the facts. I had a big fella assert that a really nice Brazil 1908 I had on display had the Star of David stamped on the stock. Couldn't convince him that it wasn't an Israeli rifle. This rifle had a nice six point star in the center, and the star was in a circle. Guys like that are going to get screwed, if indeed they ever actually buy anything.
