Buying a Handgun In Florida

Video is B.S. and speculation, the gun show "loophole" occurs either on premise or off premise, depending on the show and whos putting it on

If a private transfer occurs off-site, then it's like any other transfer and the gun show has no actual part.

If it occurs on-site in a state that does not classify gun shows as the grounds of an FFL (private transfers are prohibited on the grounds of an FFL), then the gun show still does not play into it, since it is a private transfer that happens to be taking place at a gun show.

It is you who is speculating and spreading misinformation. Do educate yourself. Perhaps go to a gun show or gun store in the states and find out for yourself how the gun laws work.

Here's Steve Crowder doing a hidden camera video asking gun stores and a gun show specifically named by Obama to break the law.

If he can show a FL property tax bill in his name, then a knowlegeable store will sell him a gun. Not all stores are up to date on this.

I believe he can buy guns if he gets a hunting license there. It might be worth looking into if he really wants one.

If he had a gun he would look into taking it. But he does not own a gun anymore.

He is considering buying a shotgun and a revolver.

Sounds like if he can prove he owns property there he should be able to buy something. Thanks guys.

I imagine that a reputable gun store down there should be able to answer his questions. It’s a different culture, I think someone could walk him through all the legal steps, but I’m only guessing as I don’t live there.

Heres the cash, heres the gun, thank you have a nice day

I don't think they even care at gun shows, well not in Nevada at least

Seen many cash and carry no ID sales go down at Nevada gun Shows

In Florida there is a three day waiting period.. unless you are trading in an old gun( cheep) gun you bought at a gun show from a private seller.

The answer is no. I am a snowbird, own a property in FL, pay property taxes, own a FL registered vehicle, have an RPAL in Canada, have a US bank account etc. etc. A FL driver's license does nothing for you WRT being a residence (maybe for a cheaper rate at some golf courses!). I have been to many ranges and gun shows and there is no legal option to purchasing a firearm. I have found only 1 out of 15 ranges in a 1 hour area that will even rent me a pistol at an indoor range; I can't even trap shoot or take a lesson. For anyone thinking about obtaining as much "residence" documentation as possible, consider your Closer Connection to Canada for tax purposes. It won't help anyway, and you can put yourself in an unrelated bind with taxation issues. The ONLY way to for a Canadian to posses a firearm in Florida (impossible to get conceal carry) is to bring one down with an ATF form along with a hunting license or invitation to a competition. I would LOVE to be proven wrong as I miss my guns! (especially my Sig P226 Elites and CZ Shadow II).

Has anyone brought pistols down successfully and kept them here for 5 1/2 months? Thinking of trying it but not sure if an invitation to one competition would allow me to keep it here for that long.

$151.50 for your non resident annual hunting license. $17 if they consider you a resident. Buy a license and bring your guns down! It is a year round license, you would be good to have your guns for your 5.5 months as far as I can tell.

Keep in mind this isn't coming from anyone with any really relevant experience.

Take guns down every year. The ATF form 6 use to require a hunting licence or invitation then didn't but this year maybe does. They suggest getting one from anywhere. Mine is from Alabama $19us. The problem is the US customs officer well documented on here. A few years ago he wouldn't have let me across without the hunting licence last year the one said "what's the guns for" I said pig hunting and he said have a nice trip. No licence required.

Not relevant to this tread but maybe answers some questions.
