Loved the story! Sure put's my life into perspective, and makes me feel like a boring choir boy.
Thanks for sharing!
Any and all of the time I have to still spend here in Canada makes me feel the same way. I know what's happening in Mexico and it drives me crazy to be here in this back-water country cooling my heels and working just to get by while all the action a person would ever want or could ever handle is just a 5-hour AeroMexico flight away. But it is what it is, I have to stay focused here and stick to the damned plan so I can go back in a bit of style. Still, it's frustrating because, yes, Canada has become a back-water country. Maybe if Pierre can get in, this can be fixed, but the people that put Trudeau and the Liberals in power as well as the Max fans are still out there and there is no indications they've grown a collective brain so the odds of things just continuing to sewer are pretty high. Let's hope that's not the case.
This weekend some friends had a practice match on a "Ranch Range" sort of like Wally and I are discussing. It's on a ranch (a big one) and they just shoot into a hillside. They've got a set of plates and a mover and some barricades. All anyone could ask for on a Mexican Ranch Range. (Lots of Canadian Gun Club ranges don't have this stuff.) And of course, they've got a BBQ pit. Man, it just looks like so much fun...and of course, I'm stuck here.
Anyway, this is what a ranch range can aspire to. Here, a friend's wife with no equipment trys a run-through before they got started using a Model 27 with an 8 3/8-inch barrel. In heels. I post this more to show off the range structures and toys than any actual impressive shooting skill -- although she's probably better than a lot on here.
Of course, they can't take a proper video. So it's cut into two parts. Oh, look, they've got an Action Target Mover. Damn, those are so much fun to play with. They are playing with these things on Ranch Ranges, and then there's some of the Clubs up here still arguing about whether steel should be shot or not. Okay, maybe I'm just being too critical. A problem I sometimes have.
And of course, just to really piss me off, they sent a photo of the BBQ. So I post it here so everyone can see what we're missing up here in Canada. Or as Wally calls it: Kanaduh.
