OP with a 0 Feedback score you may have some difficulty negotiating the half payment idea
I ALWAYS sent full payment upfront based on feedback score. Someone has crappy feedback I wont even consider dealing with them.
Nope but the buyer can say hey its legally registered to me, give me the gun now.
If that was the case, then none of us would have any ratings.
As a seller, I would want full payment and then I start the transfer. No if's and's or but's.
I agree. Just completed another sale/transfer on the EE this morning doing it this way.
As a seller I wouldn't do it, all the money up front first.

Check for CGN history, post count and most importantly trader rating. Look at who the member has dealt with and use them for references if required.
As stated. Money in full, transfer complete, firearm shipped. Otherwise no deal.
No way would I start a transfer before receiving full payment. Not a reasonable request IMO.
In the same spirit: if the money is sent it actually belongs to the other person.
Trader rating aside, its a little hypocritical as a seller to expect a buyer to send potentially hundreds or thousands of dollars based on an ad, some photos and some PM promises and not have some mutual trust for the other party.
As I said before. Its a show of good faith by both parties. Its a shorter leap to trust that someone will send the balance when they've already committed money then to trust that someone will deliver on a promise made on the internet once your money has left your hands.
I put stock in the trader rating system. I'll do a deal differently with someone who has dozens of deals then some who has, let's say 8.
If anyone was wondering, i was was the victim of fraud via EMT from a firearm site who's name I will not speak. Long story short, I asked someone at the bank about it a month later, and they gave me my money back.
No, full payment before transfer is started. Go by trader rating. I once got in a panic to send money for a rifle I just had to have and sent the emt for $800 and then no correspondence for 3 weeks. I was flipping out cause the guy wouldn't answer me after he received the emt. Rifle showed up 2 weeks after emt was cashed and guy responded 3 weeks after. Turns out his computer crashed and we had not traded anymore than addresses and pal scans so he had no way of letting me know.
Now, I always get pal, address, phone number, email address, and actually call the guy before I send money. I will even google street view the address to make sure it is a real address and ask what vehicles would typically be in the driveway in the last 2 years if the trader rating is less than 10. Until you have built your trader rating higher than that, I don't deal without the street view info that jives.
