Buying a pistol from EE

You can try the 50% down.....but if someone else has no problem paying in full guess you are ####ed lol
What you want is an escrow service....you pay them in full, seller gets the money when you get the gun. Also something I would say pound sand as a seller though lol.
EE is pretty simple though.....everything is either overpriced or bubba'd or misrepresented condition. If you see a real steal of a deal, it's a scam....no deals on the EE.

you were luckier than me. I got in the same situation, not here, but a few years back on ebay with EMT. Even though I got the guy's phone number and talked to him on the phone, he still scamed me. It took 3 years for RCMP to send the guy to jail, and the court was good and got my money back without me doing anything. Bank couldn't do anything to EMT at all and considered it's cash transfer and non-reversable. This is why I said it would be fair to do both ways based on ratings/reference here.

If anyone was wondering, i was was the victim of fraud via EMT from a firearm site who's name I will not speak. Long story short, I asked someone at the bank about it a month later, and they gave me my money back.

Hopefully not a CGN member...

The only EE transaction I have had go sideways so far was when the seller didn't accept the EMT in a timely manner.
After waiting two full days I cancelled the EMT. In the mean time the seller had initiated the transfer which I later declined.
Chock that one up to poor communication skills on the sellers side. I would get a one or two syllable email response every other day.

So I have to ask Hitzy does that mean that you have scamed 112 people here on the EE? It would seem reasonable to me if you say that everything on the EE is crap or a scam then it must mean that everything you have bought or sold went sideways. Is this correct?

As much as you have scammed 281 people I guess...

In my opinion it does. It proves the FA is registered to the seller (So we know it exists in the system) and if things go sideways it gives the RCMP a starting point to find your delinquent FA.

Doesn't guarantee that you recover your 50% deposit, but that's better than being out the full amount.

Sorry, I just don't get this financial owness on the buyer bit. It's like sending money into a black hole. You could never hear from the seller again.

Case in point:

I bought a FA on the EE, and the transfer was competed in a timely manner as expected.
Seller didn't ship in a timely manner (I'm talking a week+), to the point where I threatened to report a delinquent restricted FA to the RCs.
It was in the mail the very next day. The transfer was my leverage.

If you don't feel confident enough to buy stuff from EE...than don't buy it. If the seller is ok with 50/50 deal than why not? Beauty of the free market I guess. Personally I wouldn't even bother to answer to such offer. Why? Back to the start of this post.

Touché. No seller has ever accepted my 50 proposal. My logic must be flawed somehow.

Not really. It simply shows that someone isn't confident with what he's doing. More troubles to come down the road possibly...and who likes any troubles?

I have transactioned many a EE deal, including one with you. Don't know where this confidence thing came from?

My point is, I don't feel the financial risk should be burdened by the buyer. Just my $.02 worth.

We will leave it at that.

I have sold hand guns and rifle through this site and other's, I have no trader rating in writing in print, only words spoken that I was excellent to deal with, as that is the way it should be, I see that there is a lot of scammer's out there but a few phone calls before hand and you should be safe to deal with, Just my thought's but that's the way I do business and have had no trouble with any body yet, Just do your home work First and you shouldn't get scammed.

Oh but I have never claimed that everything is either overpriced or bubba'd or misrepresented condition. In fact I think the EE is a great place to buy and sell. I have meet many great guys and gals here and have had almost no issues with anyone buying or selling.
