Buying a RC K98 - what should I look for?

It's from the "r" letter block of rifles from Mauser Oberndorf production in 1941.

1-9999 a "block"
1-9999 b
1-9999 c etc....

So your rifle was the 180,### rifle made by Mauser Oberndorf in 1941.

Estimated K98k production by byf (Mauser Oberndorf) in 1941 was 350,000.

Once the first letter blocks had been exhausted in a given year, they went to double letter blocks (eg: 5555 rr)

Thanks!!! Nice to know.

How's that Mosin you bought?

My pleasure.

PS: I made some changes to my post above, please note.

The Mosin is nice! A 1943 Izhevsk with an undated PU scope but the scope serial is stamped into the Mosin receiver as well.

Glass is clear, and all the other serials on the Mosin are matching, not force matched. A nice example. Can Tire stuck a bunch more out there after I bought that one. Wonder what they have there now? :)
