Hi guys

.308 scope They refuse to ship in Canada, i try optic planet same result.

Unless you apply for the proper U.S. export permits/paperwork to legally do so, buying most firearms related stuff in the U.S. to bring back to Canada is a no go and illegal under U.S. laws.

Last time I brought a scope back was like 6 years ago. I was able to purchase it and bring it across the border no problem without paperwork. That being said, I think things have tightened up considerably since then. Apparently, it is still legal for us to bring them across the border... just do not get caught with it while you are still in the states since it's illegal to possess down there unless you have the right paperwork.

Buying a scope and possessing it in the U.S.A. isn't the problem. The regulations are about exporting things so the problems arise if you are exporting it illegally, whether by shipping or by bringing it home yourself. Some can only be exported with the right paperwork. Some are prohibited for export in any case. If you are in Las Vegas for only four days you should be able to fill that time with things more fun than chasing regulatory information and permits.

Real story. Guy from Calgary drives down to the USA to buy a scope and saves $200. Brings it back, but is defective but warranty is no good in Canada. Drives back down to the US with his wife for a couple days and has it fixed. On the drive back, just before crossing the border he gets pulled over and the scope is confiscated by US Customs. Unfortunately he lost his $200,000 Audi R8! Wife was pissed.

..... But at least he saved $200 on the purchase price of his scope! Lol. Moral of The story. If you want to Smuggle a scope into the country invite someone you don't like to come along and drive for you

Why don't you just buy one off CTC Supplies?

You broke US law six years ago, but got lucky. It is not legal to just bring scopes out of the US and across the border. It is legal to buy and possess the scope US side.

Funny story, the only time I have been searched while crossing the US/Canada border was when I was stopped and searched by american customs when entering Canada. They were searching for firearms and related materials even as far down to asking if I had and broad heads for arrows?!? Didn't know arrow heads were a controlled item in the US but I guess thats what I get for going to american gun stores and the Piere South Dakota Walmart where I did buy a deer feeder and a few other accoutrements that were not fire arm related but hunting related

My understanding is that it is not U.S. or Canada customs that are the problem - It is U.S. Homeland Security that enforce the ITAR regulations and yes you will have the Item confiscated and can possibly be denied entry into the U.S. in the future.
