Buying a sks online

Weimajack in the EE also has some beauties. He has hand picked unrefurbished SKS's that are quite nice. HiCal has some decent ones too

With out a doubt, I buy online… Corwin Arms,Westrifle, would be the 1st place I look for an SKS… reason being they are willing to look through there stock to find what you are looking for. However I don't think Corwin Arms has SKS in stock at the moment. If you want a Chinese SKS you will have to resort to EE.

I got a very nice "premium" from Bulls Eye London earlier this year. I paid $80 or so more than the CT specials but it really was in nice condition. No BBQ paint, no dings on the wood, cosmoline cleaned off and a pristine looking bore.

I got mine from Leaver arms in vancouver, but i picked through the stock to find what i wanted. then put it aside and went to 3 other gun stores just to go back to Leaver arms.

Do you know exactly what you want or just a simple shooter?
will you be shooting milsurp ammo?

I got 4 Russian from Tradex last year, all were pretty decent refurbs, some more 'furbed then others, but they were $179....typically the later made the better the condition was. I asked for 2 early non-chromed bores and 2 late chromed, one was a 1950 with the spring loaded firing pin, both late made were in better overall condition.
I only shot one so far and it was a 1955 with birch stock, chrome bore, and shot waayyyy better then any other SKS I have ever owned. I sold off Chinese and Yugo SKS rifles in the past because they were minute of barn door.... This one is about a 2moa shooter off a rest at 100m.

just got a beauty from weimajack,a 1954 unreferb very nice, also got a chinese sks rifle from him couple of years ago ,new condition and very nice wood for a chicom rifle ,the nicest i have seen

I'd prefer to have one in hand to inspect and pull the best out of a crate as i did with my nagant years ago . That being said my friend spent a bit more and got a $249 sks from cabelas recently and was the best stock/metal i ever saw on one .

Martin at Corwin Arms for sure...

Even if they were selling them for $5, I wouldn't buy from either Marstar or Westrifle.

I got my sks from Marstar. It's supposed to be unreferbished. Aside from it looking like the receiver cover may have been painted it looks good to me. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet though

If I couldn't walk in and pick one myself I'd buy from Corwin or Canam, the last one I got came from Canam. Other than a sanded stock it was super clean, parkerized black. I just refinished the stock with a few new coats of schellac and it's good as new. I shoot it so I wasn't looking for a safe queen.

Before I refinished it.
