Buying an Antique COLT Revolver in USA, What Model and Caliber???

I was wondering what model and caliber Colt revolvers are allowed to cross the border as an antique.

Are all models and variants made before 1898 allowed across with a RCMP letter?

I am also confused about the acceptable calibers that pass as antique.
There are a few for sale in the EE chambered in .38 special.

Are these possible to buy in the USA? or are they later converted here in Canada?
