I ordered my Hornady stuff online in Oct and it shipped no problem. Oddly enough the box had a Cdn point of origin so I suspected it was sent from a Canadian warehouse. It came Cda Post and the fees were reasonable. A small brokerage fee charged at time of purchase(shows up under tax/fees) and the goods arrived as a domestic shipment.

I've noticed this too. Seems to me the brokerage fees they charge are bogus. That being said, it's still cheaper to order stuff from Cabelas than it is to buy locally.
The brokerage fee is usually smaller than the fee Canada Post charges you for the same service...
Bogus? How? Cabelas uses a customs brokerage firm to clear all of their shipments to Canada. That is how you end up with a Canadian return address on your package. Their broker has pre-calculated the duty and taxes and Cabela's charges it all upfront along with a very small brokerage fee. The brokerage fee is usually smaller than the fee Canada Post charges you for the same service... I don't see how that's bogus.
Try importing goods as a company if you want to find out about customs brokerage fees...
canada post charges flat fee 5 CAD (for collecting the taxes on behalf of the government), plus GST and PST. so, the private brokerage firm charges less than 5 CAD??? wow, i want to deal with this brokerage firm!!!
I know Cabela's won't ship dies to Canada, so I really doubt they'd ship a press.
how much is the 'small brokerage fee' that we're talking about here?
do they charge you the exact canada post rate for the shipping?
