Buying Guns and Murphy's Law

murphy's other law of gun buying, if you see something on the used rack you really want and the price is right, the store owner will come along and tell you it's promised to someone else. happened to me today, pawn shop had a nice little '94 carbine in .30-30 for $180. i said "sold" boss came over and said it was promised to someone else already. but i did settle for a nice Marlin 336 in .32 WS with scope for $200, so i can't complain

Good one! The 32 specials are a bit on the rare side ;)

You'd think they would try harder to get you to mail them all those hard earned dollars, wouldn't you?

Called back today, and "they haven't heard back from the warehouse yet, should be today or tomorw or so".

So it takes a week to hear back from their computerised warehouse division? Would a phone call be too much to ask? I guess if a guy wants a bit of service he shouldn't be in the big box gun stores in the first place:rolleyes:

Other than it taking them a week and a half to discover that the one rifle I was looking for was not in stock, even though the computer said it was, I have no real complaints with Wholesale. Once the ball got rolling, I had my rifle in less than 4 days delivered to Ontario from Klein-berta.

Just picked up a southpaw '06 model 70 Winchester Classic from a guy on another forum for #1 daughter. First time to buy a pig in a poke from an unknown. Can hardly wait to see what she flies like.

Right on Preacher, good luck with it ;)

Well by krikey I just heard back from Wholesale and they have found the illusive .308 :) It appears it might be shipped out tomorrow. I'm starting to figure out there's a few departments in this outfit and some know the situation real well and others don't and if your too early or too late in the day with your call you don't learn much.... Anyways, I'm happy ;)

DARN! I saw this thread too late to try to lure Salty into buying something that he needs but doesn't know it yet..........I could have sent him my ultra-secret "Current Traders List" that I only share with a very few people......

heh, heh, heh........

Had ya covered there buddy I put spam blockers on anything you say or have ever said and changed my phone number and moved to Costa Rica

He he.. I actually went way against my grain of liking older and interesting wood and blued rifles and bought a stainless plastic unit for abuse on the salt chuck this time Doug, plus decided to buy a brand new rifle for the first time. I don't even like looking at it. I feel like I just bought a $5 hooker  Oh well it shoots well and doesn't look too bad from the business end. Those blacktails on the islands out here are in for trouble :)

Down the road! Oh Man for me its like Nascar I just keep going round and round, never begining nore ending, when I run out of gas there always a tow truck read to pull me in :)
