Buying Guns in the US

I know reading the title of this, you may think "this again" but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything regarding what I want to ask.

My parents and my brothers and I are going to be buying a house in Scottsdale, AZ. My parents will be doing the snowbird thing there, while myself and brothers will be using it more for a vacation/ investment house.

Now for my question. What would I need to do to buy guns down there and have them kept at the house there?

I would love to get my hands on an AK :ar15::ar15:

my guess is you probably need a US citizenship or a permanent resident thingy at least, but thats just a guess...i cant say for sure.

Call the ATF maybe? they can answer most certainly all your questions.
 
Hmmmmm, so its not as easy as living down there for a month or so, buying one then coming home. Good to know at least.

My mom is hardcore Anti, my dad just doesnt care either way. I could try when they get the place, but i'm not getting my hopes up.

However you can borrow, providing, as you mention, hunting licence or match.


I did confirm this a number of years ago when my parents used to live in the US and I would occasionally go deer hunting with them.
 
Sunray is correct. In order to obtain the authorization from the BATF you need to have an invitation to the match or hold a hunting license.

There was some controversy a while ago, because anyone can apply on-line for an Alaska State Hunting License, and the small animal license costs (my last one did anyway..) $20.00

I had the occasion to be scrutinized by the US Border Patrol when i went down to pick up a Krieger shipment, and i spent a fair amount of time with them, We discussed the whole firearms thing, and they indicated that they have the discretionary power to refuse entry to the lower 48 on the basis of an Alaska state hunting license being used as the basis for obtaining the BATF-6. Their argument (and it makes sense) "you aren't hunting in Washington State with an Alaska License".

The documentation you require to be in possession of a firearm in the US bears specific information about the firearm. It is not a blanket permission to have guns.

It is impossible - unless you are a resident - to legally be in possession of a firearm as a non-resident of the US that has been obtained from within the US. All persons entering with firearms must have an approved BATF form 6
