I can recall that (as I've been told- I was a kid) back then, people were buying houses for around $10,000.
One income could and did support a family.
People did not live so high on the hog. Not sure that most people had credit cards back then, which means...saving up to buy what you wanted.
$44.95 + $5 + tax was a lot of money.
Still, $1500 or so in todays dollars sounds like a pretty good deal for a mint No4 (T). Sigh.
The No1 Mk V...I've only ever seen one or two of those.
