Buying milsurp rifles - P&S Guns and Militaria

Ya its true, being close to Jean's shop hasn't done my pocket book any good. Luckily his store hours conflict with my work hours so I really have to make an effort to go to his shope. Thank god to because every time I go I end end up spending way more than I ever planned on.

Isn't that the truth!!! Seems there is always some way to wiggle more funds out of the wallet for a nice war horse!!

Opinions?

It can sit on MY rack any old time. I don't think even the Lee-Enfields would object to sharing space with one that nice!

(Normally I have to keep them separated by Swedes and Schmitts, just to keep the uproar to a modest level!)

Thanks, I wasn't aware of HACS, I will attend their shows to get some education on milsurps, perhaps get more - right now one of the swedish mausers is tickling my fancy, too.

OP, these people are telling you the truth but, not answering your question.

You need an education on milsurps and their condition.

I see that you're from PoCo.??

Well, you're in luck. Google HACS. Historical Arms Collectors Society.

They are based in the Lower Mainland and to be honest, are a bunch of great people.

They also run at least one show per month and a two day show in Chilliwack every spring.

Go to a couple of shows and look around.

If you're looking for cosmetically as well as mechanically new firearms, be prepared to pay in the thousand dollar or higher range for each piece.

Condition is everything of course and when you purchase from a dealer, you take the chance of his pick for you being good.

Remember, there are some folks that either live close to the dealers or buy a lot of firearms from the dealer and usually have first pick on the new arrivals. Some of those rifles can be near mint. Most are used and abused to some extent.

Go to the shows, take a look at what's being offered. You will likely find what you're looking for there. Not only that, you will be learning, saving shipping charges and the taxes.

That's a great looking Romanian VZ 24 OP. The crest is mostly intact and looks to be a great deal. Make sure you post some pics of your own once you get it.

Will do, I actually got it, looks great, haven't shot it yet but the bolt is smooth and the bore seems in very good shape.
Almost no need to clean it, too, very little stuff coming out the bore on Hoppe's no. 9 patches.

I will ask the wife to take pictures this weekend, she's better with a camera.
