Hi all,

I want to go to Cabelas and try a few handguns on for size and once I decide what I want look at our site sponsors and see who has some good pricing.

That being said, I have looked at a few sponsors sites and they ask for your club membership for restricted. I do know that Ontario RPAL holders do not have to be club members (I am on 2 waiting lists but not a member).

I'm sure I'm not the 1st to run across this.

Any suggestions on how to deal with that (as I see a Glock in my immediate future and know what my Christmas bonus is getting spent on.) ;)

Thanks!

Your are correct in Ontario you can purchase a restricted firearm without being a club member.

If you are online purchasing from any retail sponsor there will be a spot for a club affiliation, you can leave it blank as you reside in Ontario. They have this due to other provinces require you to be a club member prior to purchasing. If you go in person to a shop you will not have a problem. You can always call the shop prior to ordering online and they can assist you.

If you are interested in Glocks have a look at the equipment exchange there are some pretty good deals on there and the process is simple enough to buy privately.

I would go to any other store, but not Cabalas. The trigger lock policy will not really let you try one on for size.

It pays to support local. If there is a local retailer with a good selection maybe they are worth your money? They have to keep the doors open after all.
