So I have a handgun on lay away and when I went to put a down payment on it asked if a have a club membership, I said no, and that I will need a collectors permit instead, and that I need to phone the firearms program about it.

I phoned the firearms program, and they said they wont approve of a transfer unless I have a club membership and to get a collectors permit I need to phone the Ontario CFO.

I currently have a lead on a club membership and could possible have one by the end of the month.

My issue is a few of my friends of bought restricted with out a club membership
Second a thought Bill C-42 made it clear that you don't need a club membership to purchase.

You have to say that you intend on joining a gun club and the transfer should still be approved. I know several people that have done it this way for their first pistol.

You dont need to belong to a club to purchase restricted firearms , as mentioned tell the CFO that you intend on joining a local gun club later. I bought 3 like this before I joined a club.

I only recently received my RPAL. I have purchase 4 hand guns and am waiting on a 5th to be approved. I don't currently belong to a club, however I do have applications and am on a waiting list for 2. When asked if I belong to a club, that's exactly what I tell them.
