Buying my first Rifle?

...and thats why other calibers became obsolete:rolleyes:

Consider also recoil and weight of the rifle. A light sporter in 7x57 or 6.6x55 makes a fine first rifle.

The 7mm mag, 30-06, 300win mag or .270 are all enough gun, and ammo is readily available. I would pick the biggest calibre you can shoot comfortably. I like the 7 mag

30-06. Been here for over 100 years. It was my first rifle and is my son's first rifle. It has been used with every bullet weight from 110 to 220. It has taken varmints to elk, and the only reason I never took a moose with it was because I had a 338. Still my vote is for a 30-06.
