I'll be heading to the States for a trip and I'm curious if there are any parts you can legally buy and bring back or if there are any accessories that might get you in trouble.
For instance: front/rear sights, rod/bolt springs, stocks.

Thanks!

Gun parts, like the ones you listed, can only be exported from the US by a licenced US exporter.

But is a bipod considered a gun part? What about scopes, or even just rings? I'm searching the forums, but I can't find what does/doesn't qualify as a gun part.

Without permits, and things may be different if somethings changed recently, but as a non US citizen it's illegal to buy or posess "gun parts" or amunition and it's components while in the U.S.
For ordering from the US for export, the manufacturer must have the item liscenced for export AND the retailer you order it from must ALSO be export liscenced.
Free trade my azzz :D

The last time I looked around a US gunshop, I got a lot of fishy looks [no I wasn't wearing my Molson's Canadian teeshirt] and the people were _very_ leery of even discussing selling parts to someone they didn't know. Very recently I heard the story of an RCMP member who tried to order some stuff sent to his hotel in the US. The parts never arrived, but some badge-carrying suit-wearing individuals did and the Mountie figured that the only thing that kept him out of serious trouble was his own badge. This is a FOAF [friend of a friend] story, so take it for what it's worth.

Personally, I'd forget it. Our neighbours to the south are going through a period of extreme paranoia and have the means to do a whole bunch about it.

I would suggest calling and speaking with someone from the border agency. I would imagine they deal with these questions all the time.
Get it in writing to :)

Bipod a is OK. Rings are OK. It depends on which scope and manufacturer. Some are OK. Some are not.

Stick to cleaning supplies and tools to be safe.

48206, this has been discussed, ad nauseam, in a MULTITUDE of threads going back yrs: Thas nuttin to do about Importing and ALL to do about Exporting. You're troubles will not be with Canadian Law but U.S. Law (and dat ain't cool)

"...Some are OK. Some are not..." And then it gets confusing. There are two U.S. government departments you'd be dealing with. Commerce and State(the ATF has nothing whatever to do with exporting). Both of which make the rules for different things. Generally speaking, very generally, Commerce deals with the export licence for the manufacturer(this is an expensive licence and most manufacturers, especially the small 'one guy' shops, don't bother with it.) and for some daft reason, shotgun parts. State deals with the 'restricted for export' list and the permit required for that. Gunparts has a list of what firearm parts(actually parts for what firearm. Stocks are parts) need the export permit from State. This is the one involving the $100 vs $500 limit. I've never been able to find an on-line list for Commerce.
"...a period of extreme paranoia..." Yep. I don't think anything has scared our Southern cousins as much as 9/11 did. Not even Pearl Harbour. Ever since 9/11, the U.S. has been terrified and suspicious of everybody, including long time allies like us.

When you have a bunch of gun hating schmucks running the country, nothing good comes of it. We, the people, aren't paranoid, it's our slave-masters. Paranoia is a common trait of criminals...you know, like the ones running our country into the ground. There's nothing we can do about it either, unfortunately, unless you would let us export the politicians to you. lol!

On the other hand, if you were Mexicant drug cartels, our Justice Dept. would be sending you all of the weapons that you would ever need.
