Just a question to the various loaders on this board.

Due the surplus brass I have access to, I am looking at various ways to make it more desirable for sale.

I usually sell it at less than market already cleaned and bagged.

My question is, would it be a little more desirable if the brass was in the following stages?

Cleaned and deprimed
Cleaned and re-primed

For a slight additional cost?

I know that I prefer it dirty myself, because I have access to everything I need to reload from dirty brass onwards.

If you Prime them it makes it harder for shipping . You have to figure out what your time is worth and if its worth the extra hassle. Some time taking it to the scrap yard or selling it cheap and dirty to someone who needs it and will use it is just fine.

I may be a little rusty on NRCAN rules and regulations in regards to exact nomenclature. However I know several companies in the register have primed brass specifically mentioned on their license. To sell it primed brass (commercially) legally you should ensure that you are in compliance with NRCan.

In all reality, if you can't sell the brass unprocessed cheaply on here if you have large amounts, just scrap it.

I'm in a similar spot. Occasionally get a couple of buckets full and need a few dollars to cover sorting and transporting it.
It used to sell quick but now if I drop the price much more it will be much easier to just take it in for scrap and save the hassle of sorting. I'd rather see it get used.

Pricing is the problem. Cheap sells. At $80 per 1K for mixed brass most would just buy ammo and consider that $80 of the price went to brass!

$80/1k for dirty, mixed brass seems quite high to me. Locally I can get cleaned for $50 and dirty for $25 per 1000. A large portion of it is IVI with crimped primers though. They reload without removing the crimp fine for me. They aren't crimped nearly as strongly as 5.56 brass is so I rarely crush a primer in it; usually just a little stiffer when seating.

There's some .38 super and .380 ACP mixed in as well though. It's only sorted with baskets so anything the same diameter is grouped together. Also occasionally find .38 special or .357 mag with the .40 I buy.

I've been seeing it go for around $30/1000, which is great, except I have to pay another $25-$35 shipping depending on how many 1000 I get. Still reasonable though.

Id prefer really cheap,if I was in the market for brass. I usually pick up my own free brass at the range, then clean and sort at home.

I'd probably pass at $80.. and buy new

I just paid $100 for fully processed 45acp brass (stainless cleaned, sized and deprimed and ready to load). I have paid half that for 9mm ready to load, but that's as high as I would go. The people at my range are cheap. They all seem to reload. Finding two 45acp rounds on the floor is a score

Fully processed, ready to load that seem fair. For someone loading on a turret or single-stage it would be a huge boon. I wouldn't go that route but I'm setup with a progressive while some aren't.

We're in the same boat ;)
I see the usual brass-scroungers at my range and when they come around when I'm picking they usually laugh, say if I'm there that there's no point trying. I guess I have a reputation.

Thanks for all the input guys. I try to at least dry tumble for easy sorting and packing as a courtesy.

I think I'll just offer deprimed & sized for those who load on a single stage or turret.

I try to keep the prices reasonable.

Dirty and cheap here,
If i do buy cleaned brass, has to be dry tumbled, as i hate wet SS tumbled brass.
Also never primed, as i have low spring guns that require federal primers.
