Holy shipping costs, Batman! I've been trying to track down some IMR powders I want to try. I finally found some at Cabelas that I really wanted so I ordered it online. Got an email today advising the shipping costs alone will be almost $140!! Wow!! So clearly there is a premium to be paid on shipping powder.

So where is there to buy in the Calgary area? I know of TSE and CSC but is there anyone else?

Budget Shooter Supply ships to Calgary and shipping is cheap, so does SFRC.

8lbs of powder and 1000 primers cost me 9$. Was here in two days but because of snow storm I got it in 3.

That's cheap.

There is some places you can get powder cheaper but I don't know what the shipping costs would be.

Oh ok, so Henry's delivery price remains the same even with powder? Good to know. He has one of the powders I'm looking for but unfortunatley not both. Ah well, I'll keep a look out on his site.

Higginson's is free shipping on an order of 21+ lbs (hazmat fee extra), so get a friends group buy going.

they had 17 pounds in stock on our list of 130 pounds.................stock is limited.........

if you find powder and bullets for something you don't own...grab them and order a new rifle............

I paid $41.19 for shipping on a 25lb order from Higginson's to the Calgary area. They don't call it a hazmat fee, it is labelled as "freight" on the invoice.

That's because there is no prescibed "fee". The fee is whatever the carrier wantys to charge to recover the costs of doing the paperwork.

There are 5 places in and around Calgary to purchase powder. What IMR powder are you looking for? I never seem to have a proplem finding powder in the area.

I'm looking for IMR-4064. What are the other places? I hadn't heard of Proline before, I'll try them out.

Amusing when someone said the Hazmat fee is just extra shipping charges, I totally agree. When I was talking to cabelas, I asked them what the price would be to just ship the primers. They said regular price. Found that amusing. No problems shipping primers apparently.

No worries. I was in there yesterday, and picked up a pound of powder, some primers and some other odds and ends. I was getting the usual "out of stock, good luck" form the other sources. I guess I should have stopped there first.

The places are Pro Line, Wholesale Sports, Bass Pro, The Shooting Edge and then there is one in Black Diamond but I can't remember the name.

To be fair to Higginson's, it isn't their fee - it is Loosis. Maybe they will ship via another company?
If buying in bulk, even with the extra shipping it is still cheaper.
