Hey guys quick question hope you can help me out.

What are some good outlets to buying / trading guns privately? I have signed up for the exchange on CGN but its been about 4 days and I haven't been accepted.

Is there another outlet I can use in the meantime?

I have checked consignment / used sections of places like Al Simmons, Triggers and Bows and Epps been to auctions, just looking for an internet stop I can keep an eye out for good private deals.

ww w.Firearmscanada.com- just be aware some are scams, just be smart about it
http://ww w.shop.tradeexcanada.com/ - most are military surplus, i.e. mausers.

Just be patient getting into the EE. It took around 9 or ten days I think for me to get access. Depends on how busy the mods are., I'd give it a week, then pm a mod about it. Just be respectful.

Thanks for the information, I guess I am just impatient.

The other thing about the EE, is that there are a lot of sellers that are not willing to deal with a newbie, because they obviously had some bad experiences.

Be aware...but don't get discouraged.

To be honest, It's the seller's gun, and if he only wants to sell to a ###, left-handed albino with a drinking problem, that's his choice.

Being myself neither ###, nor left handed, nor albino, I had planned to approach this difficulty by making local deals first, so to put cash and PAL into the sellers hand and avoid any possibility of misunderstanding.

Its not that big a deal. just look at the trader rating, if its high, send a PM. In my case, I was looking for a very specific rifle that's a little uncommon. I found one on the EE, sent a PM, made the deal. Some will ask for PAL number, name, D.O.B. to verify that your licensed, some wont. I wouldn't deal with someone who wants a scan of you PAL, but that's me. I now am picking up a second rifle off the EE. Oh, most sellers will want cash sent to them first, then will ship the rifle, since every deal is worth one trader point, a high rating means ya can trust them. Lower ratings, usually ok, but buyer beware.

Thanks, and thanks to Haywire as well.

While I am a newbie, I do research guns daily, its something I have been interested in as a child and just now have the money to make it a hobby so now I can. Ideally I'd like to find my first one off this site from someone local so I can put the Newbie apprehension to bed and we can just deal face to face. I am not sure of the mentality of the average newbie, but I try not to sound rediculious.

But I'd like to think I know a fair bit about what I am looking for and what questions to ask.

I'd wait on the EE, so many amazing deals, you'll eventually find it more fun than #### to look at.

Just make sure you ask ALL your questions first. Such as:
How will it be shipped? Who is paying shipping?
Will you help me with a claim if CP loses it? - this is sticky with some sellers, they wont initiate the claim but CP stipulates the sender must initiate the claim, not the recipient. So having insurance etc is no good if the seller is a dickweed about it and wont initiate the claim. And believe me, some wont.

More Q:
How do you want to be paid? What kind of condition is it in? (Lots of ads say NIB when it is not) Get their name and phone number. Sometimes a phone call is well worth it.
Get lots of pics. Save the pics posted on CGN to your computer to verify when you receive the item.

And remember - if the deal looks to good to be true, it probably is.........

Good luck to you.
