Buying reloading supply in the us?

I know it's virtually impossible to privately import ammo from the us, but what about reloading supply? (bullets, case, primer? and possibly powder)

My first assumption would be that it's not a problem for Bullets and cases, after all it's just lead and brass, but that's just my own common sense (wich does not always apply to firearms... )

then what about primer and powder?

There are ITAR restrictions on bullets, brass, primers, not sure about about powder but likely.

You do know that there are random EXIT checks from the US, right? Even at little, out in the middle of nowhere, crossings......


If you are caught, you are then considered a smuggler, a felon, and will be permanently banned from entering the US. Homeland Security have no sense of humour.

I was talking to someone who brought back one lousy bag of brass about a year ago. He didn't declare it. Canadian border guys saw it and proceeded to spend a couple of hours removing every single thing from his vehicle that wasn't nailed down. If it could be pryed loose and looked behind, they did it. Not worth the headache.

Reloading tools, bullet casting tools are still good to go. I guess they figure the Taliban aren't going to attack the U.S. with cast lead hand loads.

Remember it's not our side that has a problem with it. So the guy that got his truck torn apart by Canada customs got that treatment because he didn't declare a purchase. Canada doesn't have a problem with declaring barrels, scopes, bullets, powder, primers etc. The southern guys on the other hand.... that's the less than legal part
